The Buenos Aires native compiled his best season with consistent results in Challenger play
- Compiled a 40-24 match record and won one title while reaching two other finals
- Also turned in his best career Grand Slam result at Roland Garros by reaching 3rd RD
- Opened season with runner-up effort at La Serena Challenger (l. to Zabaleta) in Chile
- In March, won title at Salinas (Ecuador) Challenger (d. Daniel)
- In between, reached SF at Florianopolis (l. to Hernandez)
- In May, advanced to final at Tunica Challenger (l. to Cuevas) and followed with SF at Forest Hills (l. to Goldstein)
- Then qualified at Roland Garros, defeating Kendrick and Garcia-Lopez (for his only ATP match wins of season) before losing to former champion Moya in straght sets

- In doubles, captured first ATP title in Amersfoort (w/Guzman) and won Naples Challenger (w/L. Mayer)
