- First cousin of 1990 Roland Garros winner Andres Gomez
- Younger brother, Giovanni (born Jan. 25, 1983) plays on ATP circuit
- Member of Ecuador Davis Cup team since 1992 and is 49-31 (33-15 in singles) in 32 ties
- Coached by Enrique ‘Bebe’ Perez (since July 2006) and fitness trainer is Mariano Gaute (since December 2004).
