- Full name is Thomas Mario Haas..Began playing at age four with his father, Peter, who is Austrian, a former European champion in judo and ex-schoolmate of Hollywood star and current Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger
- Arnold came to watch a match at Mercedes-Benz Cup in Los Angeles in 2001
- Following 2004 Los Angeles win, Haas went to the Governor’s house for celebratory dinner

- Moved to Bradenton, Fla. to attend Nick Bollettieri Academy at age 11 and has been there full-time since he was 13
