Outback Senior Tour Adds Arizona Event Posted on February 6, 2008
If the popularity of tennis in the U.S. is in doubt, one need look only to the Outback Champions Series senior tour, which has announced yet another new event on its calendar.
On Nov. 5-9, Surprise, Ariz. will host the Cancer Treatment Centers of America Championships. The event joins The Residences At The Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman Legends Championships which was announced late last year, bringing the 2008 schedule to eight events.
The Oliver Group Champions Cup in Naples, Fla., is the first event of 2008, held on March 12-16.
Other events are the Champions Cup Boston on April 30-May 4; the International Tennis Hall of Fame Champions Cup on Aug. 13-17 in Newport, R.I.; The Championships at The Palisades on Sept. 24-28 in Charlotte, N.C.; the Stanford Championships on Oct. 22-26 in Dallas, Tex.; and the Emirates NBD The Legends "Rock" Dubai on Nov. 18-22 in Dubai, U.A.E.
"The continued expansion of the Outback Champions Series is a testament to the world-class quality of tennis, great entertainment value and excellent media exposure that each event provides," said Jon Venison, Outback Champions Series Founder with Jim Courier. "We are excited to add Arizona and Grand Cayman to the list of Outback Champion Series destinations."
Beginning in 2008, players on the Outback Champions Series will also compete for a $100,000 bonus awarded to the year-end No. 1 in the Stanford Champions Rankings.
