Serena vs Sharapova, 1pm EST Friday on ESPN2

Former No. 1s Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova will square off Friday in the quarterfinals at the Family Circle Cup in Charleston, SC, to be telecast live on ESPN2 at 1pm EST.
The No. 5-seeded Williams was forced to come back from a set down in her Thursday third-round match, posting a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over No. 12 seed Katarina Srebotnik. Sharapova made the quarterfinal meeting after a 7-5, 6-2 win over Tatiana Perebiynis.
The French Open champion Williams will be the overwhelming favorite against Sharapova, who is at her worst on clay but last week won her first career claycourt title at the Bausch and Lomb Championship at Amelia Island.
Williams turned her right ankle Thursday and hopes to be fit for the match-up.
"I just hope it's nothing that bothers me," Williams said. "When the adrenaline is going sometimes you don't realize how bad something hurts until the next day."
Williams leads the career series 4-2 over Sharapova, and this will be their first meeting on clay.
