Senior Tennis Boston Preview: Sampras Heads, Washington Subs

Florida resident and 1996 Wimbledon runner-up MaliVai Washington takes the place of fellow Ponte Vedra Beach resident Todd Martin, who withdrew with a strained back, this week at the Champions Cup Boston that begins Wednesday at the Agganis Arena.
The Outback Champions Series event features Pete Sampras, who last year made his debut on the senior tour in Boston, beating Martin in the final. Sampras is grouped with John McEnroe, Jim Courier and Jimmy Arias in Group A "American Group" round robin play. Sampras will open against Arias on Thursday.
In Group B is South African Wayne Ferreira, Swede Mikael Pernfors, American Aaron Krickstein and Washington.
