Former Champ Petrova First to Commit to MPS Group Chps. in Ponte Vedra

Former champion and world No. 9-ranked Nadia Petrova has committed to The MPS Group Championships in Ponte Vedra, formerly the WTA event at Amelia Island, Fla.
It will be the ninth appearance in northeast Florida for the Russian, who won her lone title in 2006.
"We are thrilled to have Nadia headline our 2009 player field," said Tournament Director John Arrix. "A former champion, consistent Top 10 performer and future Hall of Famer, Petrova will certainly vie for The MPS Group Championships 2009 title."
Petrova is 3-2 thus far in 2009, losing first round in her first event at Sydney, then reaching the fourth round at the Austrlaian Open before falling to fellow Russian Vera Zvonareva.
