Former Champs Tursunov, Blake, Ginepri at ATP Indy

Posted on July 12, 2008

Top 10er James Blake is the only Top 25-ranked representative next week at the Indianapolis Tennis Championships, where an American has claimed the title in four of the last five years.

Also seeded are France's Gilles Simon and Fabrice "The Magician" Santoro, Russian and defending champion Dmitry Tursunov, Americans Sam Querrey and Robby Ginepri, former world No. 2-ranked German Tommy Haas, and Brazil's Thomaz Bellucci.

Other American hopefuls in the field are wildcard Rajeev Ram, Wayne Odesnik, Bobby Reynolds, Donald Young, Vince Spadea, Jesse Levine, John Isner, and Robert Kendrick.

Blake will open against Israel's Dudi "Where's My Car?" Sela, then could face a tester against big-serving Aussie Chris "Penthouse" Guccione.

Other openers of interest include (3) Tursunov vs. Igor Kunitsyn in an all-Russian, Spadea vs. Young in an all-American, (4) Querrey vs. Japan's Go "Get Me a" Soeda, and (5) Haas vs. Jesse Levine.

Former champions in the field are Tursunov (2007), Blake (2006), and Ginepri (2005).
