Williams lost to
Victoria Azarenka in the Miami final, but has not yet withdrawn from Marbella.
Other seeded players are

Anabel Medina Garrigues,
Carla Suarez Navarro,
Sara Errani,
Sorana Cirstea, and
Tsvetana Pironkova.
Wildcards went to Kanepi, and Spaniards Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor, and
