Five Americans qualified to the main draw Sunday at the Family Circle Cup in
Charleston.
Angela Haynes,
Abigail Spears,
Melanie Oudin,
Shenay Perry and
Madison Brengle moved into the main draw, with all winning their final-round qualifying matches in straight sets, save for Brengle who won when her opponent retired with the American leading 5-2 in the final set.
Haynes had to win two matches Sunday due to her doubles success at
Ponte Vedra Beach the day before. Haynes beat Ekaterina Afinogenova in straight sets, then beat Taipei's Chin-Wei Chan in straight sets.
Canada's Marie-Eve Pelletier ended the hopes of American
Washington.php' title='Mashona Washington' id='namelink'>Mashona Washington in the final round.
The Top 8 seeds at the Family Circle Cup this week are

Venus Williams,
Vera Zvonareva,
Nadia Petrova,
Caroline Wozniacki,
Marion Bartoli,

Patty Schnyder.
In last year's final
Serena Williams, with withdrew from Charleston this year with a thigh injury, outlasted Vera Zvonareva 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
