One of the top destinations in the World, Miami, Florida is also home to one of the biggest, if not the biggest, tennis tournament outside the Grand Slams, the 2008 Sony Ericsson Open.
Dubbed by many as the fifth Slam, the Sony Ericsson has enjoyed a long history as one of the most popular tennis tournaments of the year, celebrated by both fans and players. Located on Key Biscayne at the Cradon Park Tennis Center, just a few miles east of central Miami, the tournament annually features virtually all of the top men’s and women’s players competing simultaneously.
A year ago it was Argentine Guillermo Canas surpriing the field defeating Roger Federer before falling to Novak Djokovic in the championships match. Canas continued the tradition of South American success in Miami following in the footsteps of Marcelo Rios, Guillermo Coria and Gustavo Kuerten as other top players to reach the final.
This year’s edition runs from March 26 through the finals on April 6 and tickets for the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals are going fast. But if you act quickly you can still get some deals on some good, cheap tickets.
