A Fish on Clay?
Nothing says clay season more to me than two words: Mardy Fish. That’s right, Mardy Fish.
As proof, Mardy backed me up and went out today and won his first title in a few years beating up on Jurgen Melzer on the red clay in Houston.
Think any other Americans are going to win a clay title this year? Doubtful. Andy Roddick, James Blake and Robby Ginepri haven’t fared well on the euro soil and as for the women, aren’t they all injured?
So Mardy, with that title - and i might add that he just won the Talahasse title also on clay entering Houston - you now have to be among the American favorites to go deep in the French Open.
Oh wait, are you in the French Open? With a ranking around No. 120, didn’t think so, but good luck in qualifying and nice effort in Houston. You now carry the flag for America on the red clay…
As for Andy, James and Robby, nice job skipping Monte. I’m sure playing an event like Monte Carlo would not help in anyway in improving your clay skills and ultimately your results at the French Open. Why would it? Afterall none of you guys have made it into the second week in Paris, EVER! Enjoy your week off sailing in your boat or getting your teeth pulled or whatever it is you guys do.
Go Fish.
