Quickie Blog: Live From Legg Mason

by Lynn Berenbaum

Hey Folks,

It was a pretty late night, and I just got in. I just wanted to drop in and give you a quickie before I hit the sheets.

Firstly, thanks for all the comments, questions, and well-wishes. I really appreciate it. I realize that I got Treat Huey’s name wrong, and I feel badly about it but I don’t exactly follow UVA tennis, and I think I cut and pasted it from somewhere. So there!

Secondly, the A-train has rolled into the station but is not playing. Andy Roddick has arrived in DC last night. He was at the venue today but didn’t do press. Instead, Roddick, James Blake, and Paul Goldstein did a reading event with some elementary school kids for the Washington Tennis and Education Foundation. Later he went over to HHS for his swearing-in ceremony for the President’s Council on Physical Fitness. He tried to hit around a bit and realized that he was only making matters worse, and pulled out of the tournament at around 10pm.

Roddick will be replaced in the main draw by Jan-Michael Gambill. Lucky Jan-Mike.

It was a good night of tennis, but I’m beat and pretending to be a working stiff during the day, so it’s off to bed now. I’ll post up a recap in the am and toss some of my pictures into the slideshow.

Nightie.

Sweet dreams. I hope tomorrow you can tell me how Justin lost that match to Sweeting, argh.

Word Police America—cute. So much for trying to be nice to you about it. Go ahead and look like a fool when posting a non-word over and over and over. Journalist?
