In 2006, Justine Henin, Amelie Mauresmo and Maria Sharapova were all considered favorites to win the year-end Sony Ericsson WTA Championships. Kim Clijsters was in the mix too.

Nalbandian Stuffs Nadal Like a Turkey, Wins Paris Tennis Masters
Well, that final was convincing, wasn’t it? David Nalbandian hammered World No. 2 Rafael Nadal 64 60 to win the Paris Tennis Masters, his second consecutive Masters title following his Madrid win over Roger Federer two weeks ago.

Martina Hingis Announces Retirement After Testing Positive for Cocaine
Wow. What a stunner from the tennis world today. Martina Hingis announced earlier that she is retiring from following a positive cocaine test result at Wimbledon this year.
