Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic Play Soccer Tennis [Video]

by Tom Gainey

The first-time doubles pairing of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic gave the fans quite a special treat on Saturday. The top two players in the world put on an entertaining display of soccer tennis during practice.

After some exquisite shotmaking, it appears at the end of the 8-minute plus clip that Djokovic and coach Vajda won the contest.

I tried it before and it’s very difficult. But for tennis players it’s great drill for movement, quickness and footwork.

Nadal and Djokovic are scheduled to return to the court tonight this time as partners in doubles. If the weather allows they’ll play two Canadian wildcards in the first round of the Rogers Cup.

Djokovic is then scheduled to play singles Tuesday afternoon. Nadal will make his singles debut Wednesday evening.
