Defending champion Kim Clijsters trekked across the street from the US Open to the Citi Field where the Belgian tennis ace threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the New York Mets – Houston Astros baseball game Friday night.
“It was so much fun! Great experience and met a few of the guys too, they were all really nice!” she tweeted.
Clijsters, who won the US Open last year in her first Grand Slam back after an extended hiatus, is again among the favorite to repeat. The former No. 1 is seeded second in the women’s draw. She begins her title defense on Monday at 1pm on Arthur Ashe court against Greta Arn.
