Novak Djokovic: “I Hope I Can Perform a Little Bit Better Than I Did Today”
Novak Djokovic survived a very tough test today from young Bernard Tomic. Djokovic won through to his fifth straight Grand Slam semifinal after defeating Tomic 62, 36, 63, 75.
Djokovic found himself down a break and in trouble in the third set before he rallied to take the match.
“I need to work a little bit on my game,” admitted Djokovic. “I hope I can perform a little bit better than I did today. That’s what matters for me the most, regardless who is across the net.”
Djokovic who had been so hot entering the quarterfinals did not play his best stuff.
“I’m proud of myself firstly,” said Tomic. “I think I gave it as much as I could today. I was not too far off, but he’s a better player than me at this stage. I had my chances 3-1 in the third. If I was a little bit smarter, a little bit relaxed, I probably would have done the opposite of what I did. But his returns keep pressuring you and then you make errors, and that’s why he’s that quality of a player.”
Djokovic will clash with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Friday in the semifinals. Novak has never been to the finals at Wimbledon.
