Via video from the Melbourne airport, Rafael Nadal announced that his next tournament will be Indian Wells in March. Nadal, who lost an epic 5-set marathon to Novak Djokovic Sunday in the Australian Open final, will skip Spain’s Davis Cup tie in 10 days and also pass on the lucrative Dubai tournament at the end of the month to rest and prepare for the back-to-back Masters events at Indian Well and Miami starting on March 8.

Last season Nadal reached the finals of both U.S. events losing to Djokovic.

Nadal said before the Australian Open that he would take the month of February off to heal his ailing shoulder and body. Rafa also had knee troubles just before the start of the tournament.

Nadal is currently ranked No. 2 on the ATP computer behind Djokovic. After his final loss in Melbourne Nadal has not won a tour title since the French Open.

dari Says:

He looks really cute with that curly hair.

The more he fights and fights against novak, rafa is growing on me

leo vixen Says:

So cute with that smile also! Very sweet. Couldn’t watch the first 2 hours of the final because I was very stressed, but when I turned it on and I saw how he played with his heart and with so much passion, even more than before, I admired him even more. True Champion.

alison hodge Says:

rafas gorgeous, and great to see him enjoying the game again, enjoy the rest rafa, looking forward to seeing you in iw,vamos rafa.

Kimberly Says:

rafa is champion, even holding the finalist plate. true class and grace.

Kimberly Says:

OMG, colino6 wrote on rafa facebook logged in under my name that he will see him in miami and autograph not enough this time, he wants a photo together and to hit practice some shots. It looks like I wrote it. How embarassing. I hope Rafa doesn’t actually read his facebook comments.

Kimberly Says:

oh good i figued out how to delete the comment of course its already been on there for hours.

Lulu Iberica Says:

Ha,ha, Kimberly! With all the marriage proposals, etc, on there, I doubt a request for a picture and hitting session seems that crazy! Anyway, I doubt Rafa reads many of the comments. Do you have any idea who that chick was in Rafa’s box? If it was Xisca she looks totally different. This is a big mystery!

Humble Rafa Says:

rafa is champion, even holding the finalist plate. true class and grace.

Ofcourse I am. What else would you expect? Cry like a baby and put on a show, distract the presentation ceremony from the winner to the loser?

It has been done before. I won’t name that person because I have class :).

Humble Rafa Says:

Thanks for all love I get here. The only time I get hate is when I beat a certain unnamed player. Otherwise I am a hero around here.

Mark Says:

@Lulu Iberica. I think I read somewhere on Twitter that she is the lady that takes care of Rafa’s website?

Lulu Iberica Says:

@Mark,
Thank you! Good to know. I was worried Xisca had been replaced.

Mark Says:

@Lulu Iberica. Xisca has gone to London to study. I believe it is for one year.

rose Says:

thank you rafa for being one true champion..wining or losing you always give your 100 % and for that as a tennis fan I thank you…good luck for the rest of the season..

Ajet Says:

Rafa’s the most handsome guy in tennis perhaps, be it the manly muscles and figure or the manly colour or the rough and tough body languauge and sweet smile; he definitely scores over the rest.
No wonder, my most favourite female singer and international cult icon Shakira chose him for her album ‘gypsy’ and I love the song for sure, and also the video. But doubt xisca would be feeling the same about the video!

Ajet Says:

I mean manly color of his body of course. Among all the tennis players, only he probably can satisfy every girl to the maximum in bed! ;)
Which girl can not go crazy about his steely body! :D

Lulu Iberica Says:

LOL! Ajet, you seem to appreciate Rafa quite a lot! Not everyone finds him handsome; although, I certainly do. Yes, I think the sweet smile combined with ferocious competitiveness is very appealing.

skeezerweezer Says:

KImberly,

Busted! And what were you doing visiting Rafa’s website? Haha i don’t believe Colin06 wrote that. It was u, own up to it lol :). You’d better clear your history too, otherwise u may get into trouble with your significant other. Lmao :)

Fot Says:

I don’t think he’s handsome so to each his own. I especially hate to see when he hits the ball how he contorts his face! Yuk! But it’s good to have differences of opinions.

sheila Says:

humble rafa, is there ever a time you dont insult federer. what is your problem w/him. his personality happens 2b different then nadals. so he cried big deal. i am not a nadal fan nor a djokovic fan, but

Ajet Says:

FoT:

Not so much about to each his own involved here. Rafa is indeed handsome, very very handsome! He has a scary good figure! He’s a Hunk! If people don’t find him handsome, that’s their problem! If rafa cannot be called handsome, dunno who else is!

sheila Says:

i got cut off from my thoughts. i am not a nadal fan nor a djokovic fan, but i certainly have the utmost respect for them as tennis players. u may not like federers crying well i dont like djokovic & nadals macho crap when taking their shirts off after the ao final. every player has something that may bug someone that may not be a fan, but u humble rafa, dont seem 2 have any respect for federer & all he has accomplished as a tennis player.

Ajet Says:

And rafa definitely won’t do such face when he sleeps with a chick, i’m sure. what has the expressions during play got to do with nadal’s handsomeness! gimme a break! rafa is handsome means rafa’s quite handsome in his normal life. you probably are ignoring his female fan following! millions of girls’re crazy and dying to have a good night with that guy! even in india, most of the young ladies are fond of rafa! he’s hugely popular, and that’s not just for tennis, but also for his superbly athletic figure!

Ajet Says:

sheila:

i m surprised that you even bother to respond to the clown who calls himself humble rafa!

jane Says:

To me Rafa has the most endearing smile; I love how his wholeface crinkles and lights up when he smiles. Good luck to him going forward. (But not too much ;)). He’s a great competitor.

alison hodge Says:

im loving ajets post,i agree theres plenty of handsome men playing tennis but rafa is something else,i would love to be xisca for a day,to test out your theory,or shakira and smooch with him in that video(if only),but without sounding shallow,he is an amazing tennis player too,and great to here him with such a positive attitude again.

Ajet Says:

my favourite handsome guys in tennis:

No.1 is Rafa for all the welcome manly attributes…

Then i think guys like federer, ferrer, verdasco, roddick(brooklyn decker chose him not for nothing people! ;)), haas, safin(retired, but still), baghdatis(sweet sweet guy) fernando gonzalez, melzer(for his sweetness) etc.

Then I think murray too can be a wild lover on bed, lol ;) And I for sure find Murray handsome as the guy’s tall, well-built and of good complexion, not bad at all.

Ajet Says:

Alison:

You’re naughtier than I thought! Dirty dirty mind, LOL ;)

But even your imagination would appear too pious if you could peek into my mind to find out what I imagine to do w.r.t. Maria Kirilenko on bed! I mean, of course I easily could go on making love to her till both of us die! ;) :D
Oh Yeah, at least I can dream about her! ;)

alison hodge Says:

ajet thanks to you, alot of us red blooded women will probably be wondering about your theory, and not concentrating properly on the tennis lol, love the list though, although some more than others,i would have put lopez, blake and nole in there too,but you certainly know what makes us women tick anyway.

carlo Says:

lool…

Ajet Says:

I think safin is a real hunk as well. He’s easily one of the most handsome guys ever to play tennis. :D

Humble Rafa Says:

I think it is time to close this thread. All the women in the forum want to sleep with me. WTF?

alison hodge Says:

ajet believe you me,i do have the same thoughts about rafa lol, like you say its nice to dream,i agree maria kirilenko is very beautifull, and a change from anna.k,maria.s or anna.i,who seem to be the ones that most men would go for,all very beautifull though dont get me wrong.

alison hodge Says:

humble rafa with pleasure puulease

Ajet Says:

alison:

I am realy flattered by your compliments today, lol. ;) so thsnks! :D

alison hodge Says:

ajet thanks i have loved your posts today too.

carlo Says:

I’m on the edge of my seat…lol

Ajet Says:

Run humble rafa, run! ;)

Ajet Says:

lol carlo ;)

alison hodge Says:

ajet LMAO.

Ajet Says:

alison:

now just don’t get me started on my sweetheart maria kirilenko, I could write books on her praising her beauty if i had that literary genius in me! ;)
I seriously love maria kirilenko. I mean, how can be someone so sweet and so beautiful! :p

And to tell you the truth who cares about rafa and the rest of the handsome male brigade,
ALWAYS…LADIES FIRST!!! :D :P :) B-) ;)

carlo Says:

vamos Ajet :p

alison hodge Says:

ajet yeah im all for that ladies 1st lol, sorry ill have to sign of now, have to get up early for work, anyway pleasant dreams, hope you see maria and i see rafa in mine lol, nice chatting, speak soon,to be continued, over and out.

carlo Says:

The only tennis player I have seen in a dream is Marcel Granolers peering at me with those huge eyes and I have absolutely no idea why he’d be in one of my dreams. Woke up confused, surprised…

carlo Says:

Ajet

Time to make the moves. I just heard a commentator reporting Anreev and Kirilenko split. She’s available :)

carlo Says:

Igor Andreev not anreev

Kimberly Says:

Last year at the Miami tournament colino6 and other kids stood outside the locker room planning how they were going to tackle nadal to the ground when he came out and force him to sign their balls. When he came out with heavy security he was chased by grown ups and children and I almost lost colino6 as he started chasing him with the pack. It took serious effort cozying up to the security guard and an hour of watching him practice to get the guy to bring rafa over to sign his tennis ball. I was hoping we could skip rafa as we already have his autograph and focus on someone a little easier. Now he wants a photo opp and a practice session? I am never going to be able to deliver this. This is the same delusional 6 year old who told his coach after a fight that he was going to fire him because Mardy fish will want to coach him since he is getting old and ready to retire.

vox777 Says:

Rafa get well soon… Nole will be waiting for his “eternal” rival :)))

Michael Says:

True the Masters series will be very crucial for Nadal. Last time he made two finals which was a superb effort but lost to Novak in both which was a huge disappointment. I am sure this time Nadal would like to turn it around and what better way to do it than beating Novak in the finals. For sure, that is going to be tough, but Nadal hopes for the best and live on the maxim -
“We must accept finite disappointment, but we must never lose infinite hope.”

Ajet Says:

”carlo Says:

Lol carlo :p

”carlo Says:

Thanks for the info carlo! ;)
Just felt asleep yesterday. Woke up fresh, and am ready and raring to go after dreamgirl maria kiri now, woot! ;)

Ajet Says:

And of course Allez and Vamos dear Carlo! :D

Ajet Says:

”alison hodge Says:

I also felt asleep yesterday alison, the thoughts of maria kirilenko just seduced me into deep sleep, lol! ;)
And yes, come back soon, we’ll again chat! Take Care Sweetie! :p

Ajet Says:

“We must accept finite disappointment, but we must never lose infinite hope.”

Marvellous Michael! :D

Michael Says:

Thanks Ajet.

L Says:

The women in the yellow dress does not work on Rafa’s website. According to Rafa’s PR agent her father who’s a fan and who was also sitting in the box met the Nadal’s at their hotel and helped them with something whilst there. Apparently her boyfriend who was sitting a few rows further up wasn’t happy about all the speculation that she was Rafa’s girlfriend.

Mark Says:

@L. Since posting yesterday (which is what I read on twitter) I have read an article which matches yours.

Steve 27 Says:

until March. Vamos!

mat4 Says:

@Humble Rafa was really classy today. Because he has true class :-)

However, I won’t change my mind and will continue to call him “Lady Serve”. Just hope he won’t cry ;-)

Humble Rafa Says:

Your Humble Highness will remind you that the Arrogant One couldn’t deal with the Lady Serve.

Humble Highness is only concerned about winning, nothing else. Make fun of my injury, go ahead. Call me Lady Serve, go ahead. Win is all that matters.

Right now, I am concerned about someone who is very deep in my head. That is what bothers me.

carlo Says:

Ajet. just trying to help. ;)

Monaco beat Andreev in Vina del Mar, Chile, btw. 6-2, 6-1. :p

Wog boy Says:

Carlo, you are not the only one on the edge of your seat, my problem is that I am driving, but this is so interesting that when ever I stop I check this thread. Keep posting, please :-)

mat4 Says:

@Humble:

:-)

Kimmi Says:

seriously people! heee heee heee

Humble Rafa Says:

I have been hoping for 2 days that the powers to be will shut down this thread because of its x-rated material. Apparently, it is okay. I have to say, there are some wild women on this forum.

tennisfan Says:

Rafael Nadal is a fighter and he will be back soon. This one month break will definitely help him in sorting out his game. 5 Inspiring Moments from Australian Open! http://bit.ly/wazW7o

skeezerweezer Says:

Rafa your controversial conspiracies of so called injuries, illegal coaching, etc, always is a inspiration to your tennis fans. Now, taxes? Of course, again, you are innocent on all counts my love. But just wonderin,

Why are you always in controversy?

http://www.tennisworldusa.org/ATP—Nadal-denies-tax-evasion-articolo3306.html

Mark Says:

@Skeez. No more controversial than that of dkokass the clown!!!

Michael Says:

Mark,

Why does the Clown often defeats the King ??????

Novak is King Says:

The Tennis Authorities did everything for Nadal to win the finals. They fixed the Umpires and made them to commit horrible calls with Djoker always at the receiving end and that too at crucial points. They facilitated a very easy draw for Nadal right upto the semi-finals and a tough one drawn for Djoker. The crowd at the stadium were all rooting for Nadal. Despite all these, my man won and rather convincingly at that. I pity those who call this match as close and I give the statistics below as proof that the match was not as close as it was projeced to be.

UEs – Djoker 69 and Nadal 71
Break point
converstions – Djoker 7 out of 20 and Nadal just
4 of 6
(although Nadal had the better conversion rate yet Djoker holding more than 20 break points point to who was really dominating this match)

Winners – Djoker 57 and Nadal 44

Total Points won – Djoker 193 and Nadal 176

% serve Djoker – 59 and Nadal – 67

A mere look at these Stats will clearly identify Novak as the winner by a mile. The Tennis Authorities in Australia and the Sponsors did try all that they could to prevent Novak from winning. But still despite all these obstacles, Djoker became the true Champion making Nadal eat humble pie.

Mark Says:

@Michael. Ah! So you admit he is the King!

Michael Says:

Mark,

I have never underestimated Nadal. I know that he is one of the Greats and his achievements speak for itself. I will be looking foolish if I say otherwise. But, Novak is his real test and he has really a point to prove here. If he had beaten him at the Australian Open then that would have definitely been a turning point and gone on to erase some of the bitterness. But that is not to be and he has once again catipulated before the irrepressible Novak and that is to say that the King has been trumped yet again by the Clown as you wish to project.

Mark Says:

@Michael. Clown won’t reign for much longer. So let him make the most of it while his lucky stars are shining. I think they call it law of averages.

Polo Says:

There is no question as to who is King now, Djokovic! He has been for a while and very clearly the one. I don’t understand the controversy. And of course, he will not reign forever. Who does? But for now he is. As to how long, who cares. What is important is you got to be called King. Nadal had his time, albeit very briefly.

mat4 Says:

@Novak is King:

Nonsense.

I am a Djoko fan, but you are just a troll.

Polo Says:

I am getting out here now. I read the earlier posts. This is not a friendly blog section.

mat4 Says:

@Polo:

Polo, yes it is. But sometimes you have to ignore some posters. (Unfortunately, I haven’t done it either.)

Michael Says:

Mark,

But the Clown (according to you) has already achieved so much. He has won the Laurel Sportsman of the Year Award and has been No.1 for more than a year. That is a feat by itself in the era of Roger and Nadal. He has also made Nadal notorious and one of its kind by inflicting three consecutive defeats at the major finals.

Mark Says:

@Michael. The clown won Sportsman of the Year award. This is completely lopsided. The man is NOT a sportsman in the true sense of the word. He cheats, he fakes Injuries and very timely MTO’s and performs barbaric celebrations! It should be entitled FAKER OF THE AWARD. Duh.

Mark Says:

@ Michael. Should read FAKER Of THE YEAR AWARD

Michael Says:

Mark,

You are too much prejudiced against Novak. You are telling about some of the negatives as you see it about Novak as a player. But there are many positives too. Novak is just one of the very few players who applaud shots from opponents. Novak is just one of the very few players who treats victory and defeat in a similar fashion and this testifies itself in the way he gives handshake after matches. You will see Novak taking defeat very lightly and encouraging and praising his opponent. This is a rare quality and the mark of a sportsman.

About your charge of faking injuries, timely MTOs etc. I do not know about his part of faking injury because I have never seen him doing that. What I know is that early in his career, Novak has withdrawn from many matches midway due to physical problems. But that has nothing to do with faking. If you are talking about the exhaustive & fatigued display by him on the court, I do not think this is being done deliberately and intentionally. Even assuming he does that it is a disadvantage to him as it encourages his opponent to become even more aggressive. About the medical time outs. Common this is practised by every player including Nadal may be with the rare exception of Roger.

About the barbaric celebration, he chest pumps and took off his shirt after victory. But why bother about such trivial issues and let this man enjoy the moment he richly deserves. Every one have their way in celebrating and it is Novak’s way. Let him taste it in a sumptuous fashion.

Mark Says:

@Michael. Just because YOU have not seen him faking injuries does not mean he has not faked. Let me see now – Cincy – shoulder injury against Murray because he knew he was losing the match. US Open – mto after he lost the third set – back injury and then sprints thru the 4th set. Davis Cup against Del Potro- the whole world saw his antics on court after he knew he was goi g to lose – threw himself face forward feigning back injury. A few days later he was playing football. These are the o es I can remember. There may be others. You must admit he is a class act.

alison hodge Says:

mark i get the i impression you dont like nole, and michael i get the impression you dont like rafa, even if you do say otherwise sorry.
