How Nice, Rafael Nadal Gets A Rose After Practice [Video]
by Tom Gainey

In no time, Rafael Nadal went right from winning the Monte Carlo title Sunday to the practice courts in Barcelona yesterday. And after a hitting session Nadal was presented with a rose by an official.

Monday just happened to be Sant Jordi’s day in Barcelona, which is similar to Valentine’s Day in the USA. One difference is the men give their sweethearts a rose. Looks like Nadal has a new admirer for his affections. Does Xisca know?

Rafa also met the press and reflected on his big Monte Carlo win.

“It was crucial to finally win a tournament again. But obviously beating Djokovic was mentally very important,” Nadal said.

Nadal added that he’s focused solely on winning Barcelona and not on the No. 1 ranking.

“My goal is to play well in Barcelona, not to become No. 1,” he said. “I am closer to the No. 3 ranking than to the No. 1. What counts now is the tournament in Barcelona.”

Nadal, who has won Barcelona six times in the last seven years, will play countryman Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in his first match.

Humble Rafa Says:

I am closer to number 3 than number 2. Number two is lower than number 1. So, I am not number 1.

Roger is a better player than me. No? All our matches are tough and he is a GREAT player, no.
I am worse than Roger.

roy Says:

you may be closer to number 3, but you should be skipping this tournament and halle.

Mark Says:

@Roy. Do you want rafa to be closer to no 4 than number 3 perhaps?

Steve 27 Says:

What happens is that Barcelona is actually a tournament with more
tradition of Madrid, where Nadal is where you should not play by the altitude, the bounce of the ball, the blue track, an audience that just comes to show off and not watch tennis but mainly because it is played at home, is required “morally” and can not disappoint them. I think if finally achieved the ultimate goal of exceeding in Roland Garros titles in the great Bjorn Borg, for the following seasons of clay should not be required as now and should think more about choosing the best tournaments that may not have played before or replay them later from time to time, after all, have won everything in this surface.

Legend Says:

“I am closer to the No. 3 ranking than to the No. 1”

And this is what is called as a “honest” opinion.

Vamos Rafa !!!
