Serena Williams was all smiles after a tough 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Nadia Petrova. The scoreline was the same for the third straight time between the two players.
Afterward, Serena, who completed her “Serena Slam” in 2003, was asked about what it would mean for Novak Djokovic to finish his “Novak Slam” at the French Open this year.
“It would be unbelievable,” Serena quipped. “I don’t even think Roger did it. If Novak does it then he can join my club and we can be best friends.”
Serena also commented further on her rap song that was never suppose to be released to the public.
“I was in the studio with friends and I wanted to do something and so they said – do this and it was for me,” she said. “The next thing I know — that was one or two years ago and then I read online that I was a rapper and so my backstabbing friends did that to me and so if I see them, I will act like a rapper — -if you can get my drift.”
In the third round the 30-year-old Serena will meet 29-year-old Anabel Medina Garrigues for a first time. The former No. 1 has now won 15 straight matches and on clay she’s a perfect 15-0 this season. Serena’s elder sister, Venus, was also a winner today defeating Ekatarina Makarova.
