Serena Williams: If Djokovic Completes “Novak Slam”, He Can Join My Club And We’ll Be Best Friends

Serena Williams was all smiles after a tough 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory over Nadia Petrova. The scoreline was the same for the third straight time between the two players.

Afterward, Serena, who completed her “Serena Slam” in 2003, was asked about what it would mean for Novak Djokovic to finish his “Novak Slam” at the French Open this year.

“It would be unbelievable,” Serena quipped. “I don’t even think Roger did it. If Novak does it then he can join my club and we can be best friends.”

Serena also commented further on her rap song that was never suppose to be released to the public.

“I was in the studio with friends and I wanted to do something and so they said – do this and it was for me,” she said. “The next thing I know — that was one or two years ago and then I read online that I was a rapper and so my backstabbing friends did that to me and so if I see them, I will act like a rapper — -if you can get my drift.”

In the third round the 30-year-old Serena will meet 29-year-old Anabel Medina Garrigues for a first time. The former No. 1 has now won 15 straight matches and on clay she’s a perfect 15-0 this season. Serena’s elder sister, Venus, was also a winner today defeating Ekatarina Makarova.

Tennisfan Says:

The Djok and Serena could rap together … seems appropriate.

Wog boy Says:

If I am Jelena I would be worried, Serena usualy gets what she wants:)
If I am Nole’s father and mother I would be even more worried for wellbeing of my son:) she is mighty woman:)

Brando Says:

LOL Serena! She is right though. IF nole wins FO then he completes the nole slam- which would be celebrated!

HOWEVER, with serena and her achievements at times one feels that she doesn’t get the credit she warrants.

I think it probably is ALL down to her personality/ media image. I know that it’s what puts me off liking her. BUT the funny thing is she may also be the least pretentious, phony personality on either tour- someone who doesn’t seem to a give a (you know what) about her image- so on that note you have to give her credit. Bit of an original is our serena, the last of the mohicans :-)

roy Says:

sorry, warthog, but completing a ‘novak slam’ in the era of nadal and federer is astronomically more difficult than your ‘serena slam’.
in fact completing 4 in a row on the men’s tour in any era is on a completely different level of difficulty.

i can’t wait until this vulgar erectus throwback finally quits, puts on 150lbs of ‘curves’ and develops a substance problem. oh, and writes that screenplay.

Mark @ Tennisopolis Says:

That really is an amazing achievement – not a big SW fan but this is a huge thing. I like how she says that Roger didn’t do it. :-)

Now that’s a hater.

Michael Says:

“Novak Slam” – Yeah must be a monumental achievement if Novak manages to do that. But he is not showing the best of his form at the moment and things are looking pretty difficult for him. At Roland Garros, he may have to cross two barriers namely Roger and Nadal back-to-back and that will require one hell of an effort. All said and done, Novak can still do it. The only thing is that he has to reproduce his 2011 form and he can never miss the trophy.

King Federer Says:

there is a reason fedal failed to achieve personal slams. you can safely bet that djokovic WILL NOT win the french open this year. i doubt he will even a title on clay this year.

you can blame your losses on your grandpa kicking the bucket and the blue clay, but at some point people will realise why he is only the 3rd best clay courter of the last decade and never made the final @ french.

Chongo Says:

Roy! Your breed brings a smile to my dial. What you are and what you go through everyday, at the thought that black people occupy the prime real estate and live, the acid in your belly this brings about, the anger that drives you, even to a surprising level of self indulgent English, makes my day. Please do not disappoint me in your response.

Nina Says:

@King Federer… you might be surprised. Don’t subestimate the Djoker, he’s keeping the best for RG. ;)
