Rafael Nadal Wet Himself During His Win Last Night Over Stepanek At Indian Wells [Video]

In one of the lighter moments during second round play Saturday at Indian Wells, world No. 1 and defending champion Rafael Nadal had to leave the court during the second set of his 3-set win over Radek Stepanek because he spilled water on his shorts.

After the “accident”, Nadal, who’s had a history of bizarre injuries (burnt fingers, cramping at press conferences, cutting finger), had to leave the court to get a new, dry pair of shorts.

Nadal had just broken an in-form Stepanek to take the lead in the second set. The Spaniard went on to win 26, 64, 75 and he’ll now face Alexandr Dolgopolov Monday in the third round.

52 Comments for Rafael Nadal Wet Himself During His Win Last Night Over Stepanek At Indian Wells [Video]

Giles Says:

Lol. What next!

metan Says:

He is really clumsy!. 😄

madmax Says:

Huh?
Wet his shorts? Was he ahead in the match or behind at the time?

Just don’t buy these time delays any more.

Humble Rafa Says:

Accidents happen. Don’t laugh. It’s not the fist time.

skeezer Says:

Actually saw this during the match. So Funny lol. Could one believe this actually happened? U betcha.
World number 1.

Rafa better than Roger Says:

Don’t you think the title is calculated and designed to embarrass Rafa? We all know in this US what wetting is.

So, if readers do not read the whole story, then the dirty gossip will rear its ugly head and perpetuate undeserved snickering about. … Wetting.

Okiegal Says:

Well, now let’s make a big deal out of Rafa accidentally spilling a bottle of water on himself. Anyone whose never spilled a glass of anything liquid…..please raise your hand!! It takes very little to amuse some folks on this forum……that’s what is funny!! lol

Rafa better than Roger Says:

So next time There is a video of Roger again of a funny whiff shot, on a losing match point, let’s …

Yes?

A Tango Lad Says:

There is little hope for this web site’s credibility when the “writers” have become the trollers.

See what I just did there with the quotes?

Such disrespect.

pigoonse Says:

Why not give this thread a chance, ATL. Might be a good idea may as well keep the redundant garbage contained to one thread. We’ll see how long it lasts.

pigoonse Says:

^^^sorry. I posted that comment on the wrong thread – was meant for the Fedal War thread.

Polo Says:

No, the title was not meant to embarrass Nadal. It was supposed to catch the reader’s attention. That’s the purpose of titles so that the reader will be interested in reading the article. It served its purpose well and if you read the article, it clearly was not meant to embarrass Nadal. It’s a funny article and everything was factual, so, kudos to the writer.

Rafa better than Roger Says:

Yeah, can’t do a classy title as… Rafa spills water during changeover … Too high brow journalism?

skeezer Says:

^yes!

Polo Says:

That’s would be a very dull title for an article. A title has to catch one!s attention quickly and generate enough interest for the reader to read the article. A title that says somebody spilled water is too inconsequential for a title.

Polo Says:

Ipad provided those typo errors. Hahaha!

skeezer Says:

^yes! Was in response to polo @ 7:36.
—-
Me thinks the writer is spot on. Who else on tour burns the fingers over a dinner, chokes on a banana during changeover and slowly disappears under an interview table whilst supposedly cramping? Add mysterious watery subsatnce between legs for an mto,

Okiegal Says:

Hey, all the byline has to read is just one word….RAFA……..that’s all it takes! The writer knew what he was doing……wets his pants?? Come on, it was on purpose. I agree with RBTR on this one……anything to belittle Rafa seems to be the order of the day.

Hippy Chic Says:

Gotta agree with ATL and Okiegal and say that the credibility of this forum has hit an all time low with this thread,i remember a couple of years ago this forum putting up a sketch that was seen on a French TV programme of Rafa starting a car by urinating into the petrol tank (say no more),strange and sad really what people seem to think passes for humour,and funny also how these type of threads only ever seem to be about poking fun at Rafas expence(why am i not surprised),you never seem to see it about any other player,not that i would condone that dont get me wrong,as my late mother used to say little things please little minds,and bigger fools watch.

Hippy Chic Says:

It was not meant to embarass Nadal?disagree with that statement from Polo,that is exactly what it was intended to do.

metan Says:

Alison, what is the exactly meaning of this thread title that you said belittled Rafa. I didn’t get at all?? Is that slang dirty words???

Purcell Says:

1. Polo I admire your patience@ 10:38.
2. Madmax…..like your ‘before or after’ comment.
3. It’s unlikely that Nadal reads Tennis x so he won’t feel either embarrassed or belittled. However Nadal fans feel free to be embarrassed and belittled on his behalf.
4. In short, it seems with recent articles, that the writers could be either ‘taking the Mickey’ or becoming irritated by the lack of thoughtful or incisive responses. Whatever the case, it’s working.
5. RBTR: wetting is a universal term, not just common to USA. It can be applied to babies, toddlers, the old, those stuck in a three hour traffic jam, readers laughing heartily at your posts, Wafa and Woger fan girls……..
Anyone for tennis?

Giles Says:

Rafa draws attention no matter what he does or doesn’t do. The man is an icon and the world is hungry for news, any news. Who can blame them? The name Rafael Nadal is so impressive in itself. He gets world wide attention for burning his finger for example. Nuff said.
Vamos Champ!

RZ Says:

LOL. Had this match been during the day session, Rafa’s shorts would have dried up in 3 minutes. It was freaking hot in IW!

Translated Age Says:

Woger fan girls?

Yeah, they might as well be riding on a unicorn.

Okiegal Says:

@Metan

It wasn’t Chic who made that comment, it was me, however she did agree. Don’t play dumb…you know exactly what the writer of this thread meant to convey to followers of TX!

@Purcell

Hopefully, none of the pros read this crap……I can’t believe that I, a mature adult person, has been sucked into this nonsense myself!! I’m not embarrassed for Rafa, I’m embarrassed for the writer of this article……poor choice of words in byline……very immature and classless. Will we ever see “Fed Wets Pants”……don’t think so!

Hippy Chic Says:

Okiegal thanks and yes agree with all parts of your post,and lets not kid our selfs here,this thread was a sarcastic dig about Nadal nothing more nothing less,whichever way posters want to dress things up.

Hippy Chic Says:

^BTW thanks for what you said about me on the other thread,it was really sweet,to be honest my temper if beyond frayed,getting it from all angles Madmax,Nadalista,Giles,i havent made my mind up about whether to stick around as yet,we will see if things improve^.

Oki,

it is a strange one because Rafa, by his own admission is so precise with his water. He NEVER has accidents with it, such is his precision with his water bottles on court.

I wonder, I really do, what was behind this?
Never seen this before in the whole of his career. Have you?

Okiegal Says:

@Madmax

No, I dont guess I ever have…..but there’s always a first time for everything……or maybe there was a big conspiracy, staging the accident……Oh, how sinister would that be…..LOL If you, in your infinite wisdom, thinks he did it on purpose, power to you!

Okiegal Says:

@Chic

You are welcome…..I’m debating the same thing, not that anyone would care……..I guess leaving, being a Rafa fan and all, would make some happy….so we will see. I’m in a grumpy mood today……dieting!! Ugh So this might be the day!! Lol

Hippy Chic Says:

Okiegal lol so funny i feel exactlty the same way,but i for one would miss you,i wish Courbon were here to say something funny to make us laugh a bit,maybe the dust will settle a bit,heres hoping.

I think you need to grow a pair of balls hippy. I think when you stary mentioned your own kind, Giles, slice tennis and whoever else is vamossing rafa at the expense of belittling roger, then I will know you play fair and square. For now and for quite a while actually, you havent. Don’t make out its others like me who cause problems here. I have been here many a year, and you? Why do you need the support of others here in order to feel good or to stick around? Always sitting on the fence, making friends.

Okiegal Says:

@Madmax

You are a bully…..you probably were in school too with b—s the size of tsetsefly!

metan Says:

Okiegal,
I don’t play dumb, let me ask you again. Did you see Rafa urine on court or did he spill the water?
The answer must be the last one. So my question to you what a hell it is, he didn’t urine on the court you guys thought like that just because the haters said so. Please learn to defend Rafa in a positive way. I saw your post but I only asked Alison as i have reasons why I was not asking you.

Okiegal Says:

@Metan
Chic and I know he didn’t urinate on himself. The writer of the article insinuated as such when he titled his thread “Nadal Wet Himself” which usually means a person urinated in their pants! I was defending Rafa because I thought the writer’s byline could have been embarrassing to Rafa. I think you misunderstood what we were trying to say. Hey I defend Rafa everyday on this forum…..We may have a language barrier, you know some things could mean something else in another country. You took it out of context…..sorry for the confusion and you can ask me anything…..we support the same player.

Okiegal Says:

@Skeezer

Have you ever burned your fingers? Just curious…..lol

skeezer Says:

Hey u 2 ,
You know most are teasin about the subject, he probably split water there, no big deal! How can one pee on themselves during a tennis match? Maybe Rafa could, but even I don’t beleive that happened… Lol…

Have ever I burnt fingers? Yes, I cook believe it or not. But cutting the fingers by mistake is more common ( big bummer if it is your racket hand), something Rafa never has to worry about unless he cleans his own fish!

Okiegal Says:

@Skeezer

I assume you read Metan’s post…think she misunderstood me. Maybe she will figure out what I was trying to get across.

I am bad to cut myself too! I take Coumadin and bleed like crazy. I prefer to burn myself. LOL

Hippy Chic Says:

Madmax you sent me a post on the other thread the other day,i sent you a reply please go and read it,read Okiegals and ATLs too,you call out the trolls on this forum then as ATL said(his words not mine)you go and call them loners,FYI i have been here almost 3 years i was Alison Hodge,Alison which is my proper full name,and now Hippy Chic as it befits more about me in the real world,ok probably not as long as you but i have a life away from tennis and computers,as for trouble makers its not you personally i know that,and there are alot of Rafa fan trouble makers,but they are not the only ones Federer fans are no angels either,do you call out your fellow fans when they belittle Rafa or make sick comments about him?do you call out Roger when he does something less than perfect?because newsflash he aint perfect either,he aint the saint or the angel you make him out to be,but you never call him out because of it,because in your eyes hes perfect and can do no wrong,and i do enjoy chatting with other posters on this forum many i have a pretty good raport with and i mentioned them because of that,probably sick of the on going petty Fedal warzone,anyway my husband knows i have a foul temper as he has been on the recieving end many a time,so why would i come here to keep batting heads with all and sundry?when all i want to do is talk tennis,all i do is try to be fair and honest i have lost my cool and said things i wish i hadnt on many occasion but nobodys perfect,but i have to say that i agree with Okiegal in that your becoming a bully,its almost as if your trying to entice me into losing my cool,or trying to get me to leave,one less Rafa fan would probably make your life alot happier on this forum anyway,maybe thats what you want?

Hippy Chic Says:

Metan no issue with you read Okiegals post,she explains things perfectly.

metan Says:

Dear Ladies( Okiegal & Alison ). After reread and meditating upon your posts, I got conclusion that you both is a sensitive person. I stick with I think that the title is just a representative for a fact on the court, not more than that, although there is always more than one meaning to each words. Since this for OUR DEAR RAFA, I will go with you. Just tiny nail for Tom. Keep good works Tom. Peace. 😄😄😄😄😄

Okiegal Says:

Dear Metan,

I was reading a different meaning altogether than what you read. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one. Did I think Rafa actually wet in his pants? No. In the USA when a person is said to have wet himself, that usually means they urinated in their pants.
You bet cha, I’m a little sensitive when it comes to “our” Rafa. You can think what you want to about Tom’s byline, but I don’t agree. To each his own! Nice chatting with you, however. I guess we can agree to disagree!! LOL. Have a great day! Okie

Okiegal Says:

Dear Metan

I ‘re-read your last post and I will have to retract some of what I amsaid….you did give in to Chic and me and took our side since we were taking up for Rafa……sorry…..have had mini stroke and I will admit my short term memory sucks! I will pay more attention to my responses…..want to stay in the good graces of all my fellow Rafa fans……..there are a few that have had problems with me (and Chic) in the past! Nice to chat with you! OKIE

Giles, I put your comment on the rafa thread, where it belongs as your comments are becoming a bit wet to say the least.

metan Says:

Okiegal,
Cheers♥♡♥♡

madmax Says:

alison. Point taken. But lady, you give just as easy. Like you, it gets tiresome to read comments from people who continually degrade the work of others. There will always be fedal wars I guess. The bullies here are a) Giles and b) Slice T and that’s a fact. But again, we can all jump on our high horses once in a while and that also includes me. No harm meant.

It’s a virtual world we are living in and we don’t mean anything to each other in our own realities.

http://tiahpost.com/blog/ Says:

Is this site still about tennis? Interesting to see that people with life outside tennis can write comments almost as long as the initial article…. LOL

Okiegal Says:

@Metan

CHEERS TO YOU……I would send you one of those smiley faces if I knew how! Lol I am computer illiterate, sorry to say!

Hippy Chic Says:

TIAHPOST.COM my long post was necassary as i wanted to put my point across to Madmax,but as usual the context was lost on you,the only thing your interested in is making indirect sly digs,rather than having a proper discussion,as usual nothing changes.

Hippy Chic Says:

Madmax @3.14pm March 14th thanks for the reply,and yeah no problem.

rafaeli Says:

Rafa makes the headlines for the most trivial things. It’s like royalty. Anyone else spilling water over themselves wouldn’t cut it.
