Rafael Nadal Explains Why He Takes His Shirt Off After Every Match

Rafael Nadal made it known why he has the habit of taking his shirt off after every match. I haven’t noticed the routine but the other people (women?) have.

Yesterday after his 3-set win over Milos Raonic explained why he’s apparently the only player who does that.

“I don’t want to get cold,” he said. “That’s the reason.

“Maybe the other players are not sweating as much as I do, so I cannot stay during all the interviews, everything, having sign autograph for the fans for ten minutes or that with the same T shirt. I going to get cold. I try to dry myself and put a jacket on.”

Nadal plays later tonight in Miami against Tomas Berdych. He’s never won the tournament in South Florida but he’s beaten the Czech 16 straight times.

andrea Says:

is this really worth a post? slow news day……

Okiegal Says:

Yes, I think so. I have always wondered about that myself. Don’t want him to catch a cold……he’s got lots of tennis to play for all of his adoring fans.
Good luck to Rafa in his match against Berdy!

VAMOS RAFA!!!

Giles Says:

Vamos Champ!
Good luck in Miami!

Hippy Chic Says:

Yeah agree with Andrea totally unecassary, and contrary to what the whole population of what many of the posters on tennis-x think, not all Rafa fans are interested in his body as some people like to believe,in every waking minute of every waking day,YES SOME OF US ARE ACTUALLY INTERESTED IN HIS TENNIS.

Rafa better than roger Says:

Great tennis article!

Anna Says:

totally unecessary – quite honestly I think its an “ego thing” and just loves all the attention he gets. Personally, I think it a LITTLE OVER THE TOP

A Tango Lad Says:

Here we go again. Who cares?

metan Says:

I love Rafa”s hot body and also his tennis. Both are great.♥♡

Good job Tom. Thanks!

vijay Says:

hey..i heard fron ben rothenberg(tennis writer)that its a NIKE ad strategy….is this true? if it is then Nike takes the cake in shamlessness…

Giles Says:

Maybe some posters here like to walk around in sweaty clothes, but not Rafa. Why does there have to be an ulterior motive in whatever Rafa does or does not do?
@Anna Are you listening? Do you walk around in sweaty clothes?

lylenubbins Says:

I like this article, interesting tidbit to a tennis geek like me

Hippy Chic Says:

Name me a sportsperson that doesnt like attention,or have a huge ego,as theres no such person??

Purcell Says:

Vijay…I suspect there’s some truth in this. I wish he wouldn’t do it. It takes attention away from the loser as they exit. Sadly the body is not finely honed any more, if ever it was.

Giles Says:

“Sadly the body is not finely honed any more, if ever it was”.
LMAO!

Giles Says:

I may be wrong but I do not believe Rafa changes his shirt while his losing opponent is on the court.

A Tango Lad Says:

Giles, I’m quite sure for such a statement that said poster must be quite the specimen himself for sure.

Giles Says:

ATL. Lol. According to that poster’s life history I would guess he is in his 70’s or more.

Purcell Says:

Don’t be stupid I’m a woman with excellent judgement of what constitutes a good bod.

Hippy Chic Says:

I think what constitutes as good looking,or having a nice body is surely ones own personal preferance and also a matter of opinion, society and media put pressure on people to look good all the time its no wonder people get a complex because they look less than perfect all the time,or end up with eating disorders ive been on the end of that myself, ive been overweight/underweight through taking medication,so sad that society has become that shallow and judgemental, and everything is now based on looks.

Hippy Chic Says:

When i see Sharapova,Kirilenko,Azarnka etc etc, walking onto court looking like godesses with perfect skin, perfect hair, great legs, they sometimes make me loose all my self esteem,i have dry frizzy hair, dull skin,a pot belly, and short stumpy legs,so some of us have to just make the best of what we have..

skeezer Says:

Why don’t the women change there shirt on court? Don’t they sweat too?

Hippy Chic Says:

Skeezer women dont sweat they perspire instead lol..

Okiegal Says:

@Skeezer

There was a you tube video where a lady tennis player changed something on court, I think shorts, maybe?? Shorts or top…..can’t remember which…..with the help of a towel, however!! Lol

Okiegal Says:

CHIC……you’re so right about looks. Everything in life revolves around beauty. My hubby and I were talking about this very thing last night. He made the comment that you never do see an unattractive news personality, all the women are always gorgeous. So beauty is a prerequisite to getting a TV job for sure!!

Okiegal Says:

@Chic……thank goodness my hubby had a different outlook on beauty…..cos I probably would have been a spinster. LOL I’m one of the types if someone was setting me up for a blind date, first question “Is she cute?” Question answered “She’s got a great personality”. LOL. I’m that girl…..not the finest looking piece of China in the cupboard……but hubby could have done worse imo!! My guy very handsome back in the day and he chose me! Wowzer!!

Hippy Chic Says:

Okiegal lol fantastic post and DITTO,couldnt have said it any better lol.

RZ Says:

@Chic – I’ve often wondered why/how so many of the women players look so good. Doesn’t all that time sweating away under the sun lead to acne? How do they keep their hair in place while playing sports? (Seriously, no cowlicks??)

On another note, we ladies do not perspire either. We glisten. :-)

Skeezer Says:

Glisten… Got it ;)

Hippy Chic Says:

RZ lol well exactly,im 46 and many of those girls are young enough to be my daughters anyway,so wonder how they will look the day they have two kids, and middle age spread and celulite..

Hippy Chic Says:

Nice to know men suffer with the same insecurities that us women do..
