At the start of the year new coach Roger Rasheed wanted his star pupil Grigor Dimitrov to shed his “showtime” lavel and cut out the shenanigans. But…watch this:

Incredible!

Dimitrov had lost the first set to Jack Sock but with some ridiculous shotmaking came back to win 57, 64, 63, to reach the semifinals at the Stockholm Open and also improve his chances for London. He’ll play Bernard Tomic tomorrow.

Humble Rafa Says:

I don’t know about these guys. I protect my crown jewels. It’s not worth the risk.

I mean, a guy with 4 kids can afford to lose one or may be both. Not me.

lylenubbins Says:

I am without speech!

Krishna Says:

Nice trick shots..that too on two consecutive points haha :) .

Daniel Says:

Amazing. The power of the returns by Sock as huge. Smacking the ball.

skeezer Says:

That was sick!

Hippy Chick Says:

Very Federeresque,lovely shots….

RZ Says:

Jack Sock was a good sport about it (as he should be)

jane Says:

jack sock is a great kid; love him and vashy in doubles as they’re both so happy and exuberant.

now if grigor could just focus on winning a bit more. he has a bit of the “la monf” about him, which must drive rasheed round the bend, lol.

Brando GOAT poster Says:

Awesome but he needs step up since he’s in danger of just being a trick shot player as opposed to a dominating one. 2015 is crucial for him needs atleast a Master Series win at his age next year if he wants to rule the game post present era.

Hippy Chick Says:

Brando i agree alot of talent and potential, but too much of a Roger Federer type copycat, and i do like the guy and think his tennis is beautiful to watch, so i hope people dont take it the wrong way when i say this, but the expression style over substance springs to mind….

contador Says:

jane,

agree with you about Sock and Vashy…

Grigor improved his la monfness while Roger Rasheed has been his coach but yeah, it must be hard not to give in to the moment and make the flashy shot selections given an opportunity. Love his style!

SG1 Says:

Ahhhh….Wow!

Wog boy Says:

Sock is really nice guy, tennis, manners, everything is there to like about this young man.

BTW, second shot on this video, Dimitrov did exactly the same against Nole in Beijing and won the point after great relly.

Wog boy Says:

^^ “rally”

SG1 Says:

True. Very classy response from Sock. He smoked both returns and ended up with nothing to show for it. Grigor has serious skills!

Polo Says:

Nice shot. Also a great way to have a rotator cuff tear. This is not a Federer copycat move. Federer’s longevity has a lot to do with on court moves that avoid unnecessary strain on his body.

Hippy Chick Says:

Polo fair enough,i respect you as a poster, lets just say you have your opinion and i have mine,i agree about Federers style been less taxing than many other players, the rest i stand by,nobody else here has to apologize for stating their opinions,so why should i,i believe in being fair, but ive spent enough time on here being some apologetic Rafa fan?

Dc Says:

holy crap !!
If he was playing against fed , fed would have returned dimitrovs shot with a tweener

Polo Says:

Hippy Chick, I think I was clearly referring to Grigor’s showy shot which involved a sudden jarring twisting of the shoulder which can cause a tearing of rotator cuff. It was a careless move which Federer to whom people Grigor is often compared with would hardly do. Nadal was not even in my mind when I wrote that comment.

Okiegal Says:

That was cool!! Loved the fact that Sock walked over to him and they did the knuckle thing…..great return by Sock and an amazing shot back from that little doll Grigor!! I’m speechless……

Hippy Chick Says:

Polo ok fair enough sorry,i still stand by what i said which was style over substance though, nice what Jack Sock did though….

leo Says:

those shots are unreal…! Hopefully he can stay focussed throughout a GS to do some damage there.

Steve 27 Says:

Overrated!
