jane Says:

ok, is that the first time EVER we’ve seen roger dance? lol.

and holy naan batman. we had a huge piece at our table once at an indian restaurant in manchester uk, but not as big as that!

skeezer Says:

Great points there by the Maestro against the Birdman.

SG1 Says:

Those guys in the last picture are some decent players…

jane Says:

i guess sampras had to miss some of his matches, but not sure why. he didn’t end up playing doubles with fed.

nole narrowly beat beat and the royals beat the aces 29-22. sounds like the crowd were loving it. i didn’t see it but read a couple of summaries.

jane Says:

nice picture of fed/nole after their match

Humble Rafa Says:

I want to let the world know that I have been practicing. Practice makes Humble close to perfect. It’s time to put 14 on the move.

Don’t care for money or women other than Xisca at this time.

the DA Says:

lol, Roger arrives and suddenly the IPTL becomes newsworthy? You’ve ignored the last 2 weeks. Showing your hand there tennis-x.

Wog Boy Says:

@the DA,
Spot on..again:)

elina Says:

I’d rather watch him play tennis. Here’s the full set he played against Nole today.

Incredible set of tennis. Glad both are playing in the IPTL…

Wog Boy Says:

Does anybody know or can tell us how many teams we have, how many members, standings ATM and few more details, the only thing I could work out the matches (doubles) were time limited like in the chess:)

Wog Boy Says:

Nole’s thoughts about ITPL and some other things, nice and easy to read interview, saw it on another forum:

http://m.economictimes.com/opinion/interviews/i-had-started-to-doubt-myself-in-2010-novak-djokovic/articleshow/45406636.cms

elina Says:

Wogboy, http://www.iptlworld.com/

Wow. I just watched that Novak Fed set.

That was one of the best sets of tennis this year. 10/10.

Haha. Fed let the clock run out in the tiebreak shoot-out with a one point lead to win the set. Smart. Not an exho by any stretch in that one.

Wog Boy Says:

elina, thanks for the link, I want to sit down tonight after work and enjoy it, when I have more time to relax, so I am not going to open it now and spoil it for me by watching bits of the match:)

Wog Boy Says:

elina, thanks for IPTL link too.

jane Says:

yes it was a great set of tennis; i watched the replay. fed won the shoot out, but then they played an overtime game and based on the rules i think nole won the “match” because he won that last game.

“With two minutes left on the clock it was anyone’s set. Federer eventually won the shoot-out but thanks to one of the many rules IPTL follow, the two played one final game which Djokovic sealed.”

anyhow it was very tightly contested. fed hit a great backwards-facing overhead volley that had everyone cheering and nole hit some great backhands too.

Hippy Chick Says:

Agree with Wogboy this has been going on for a couple of weeks now,and there has been some fantastic matches from players old and new,yet only now the sudden interest,Murray and Maria played doubles,as did Berdych and Serena intersting pairings yet nobody gave a damn, everybody was busy discussing all things GOAT,for the gazilionth time….

jane Says:

hippy i know you and i both requested a thread at least a week ago, if not 2 weeks ago.

Hippy Chick Says:

Jane thanks,i get p*ssed off, when the tennis-x staff say they want new ideas, but it seems to all fall on deaf ears more often than not :))….

Hippy Chick Says:

Pat Rafter was always my favorite player from that genration, but hes not done very well in this at all so far….

NK Says:

Tom, this is not Fed’s “first trip ever to India,” He was in Chennai two years ago on a Federer Founadtion related visit. This is the first time he actually played tennis in India.

Okiegal Says:

@DA 2:30….I’m so glad you posted that comment, I wanted to, but didn’t want to start WW III! Lol I noticed the same thing…..it’s a big deal now!!

skeezer Says:

Nole/Fed was a great match. Talk about some fast play! Wowza! Rafa would never compete well in this kind of format, lol.
@wog boy
sorry have been in and out…..holidays and all…thanks for the offer on the wine.

“Roger arrives and suddenly the IPTL becomes newsworthy?”
Yep…it’s Roger Federer!

Humble Rafa Says:

Something happened to my team Mumbai. Other than my regularly scheduled injury, anything else happen?

jane Says:

heard from the grapevine that radwanska has hired martina navratilova. now that could be a very interesting pairing!

skeezer Says:

More on Feds new home(cool that he has provide for his parents also );

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2865486/Roger-Federer-6-5million-GLASS-mansion-Swiss-tax-haven-banks-Lake-Zurich.html?ito=social-facebook

Question; where is theTennis court?

Okiegal Says:

Fed’s little girls are so adorable…….I wonder if they’ve hit the little kid tennis courts yet? They are beautiful. I’ve been anxious to see new pics of the boys!! Fed’s home is out of this world. The tennis court has to be under the house in what would normally be a basement…..Well, at least here in Oklahoma, because of the frequency of tornadoes!!

Rog can thank Rafa for all this extra attention he’s
getting since Rafa wasn’t able to participate. Fed is saying, gracious, gracious, gracious!!

skeezer Says:

“Rog can thank Rafa for all this extra attention he’s
getting”
ROFL kidding right? ;)

elina Says:

Oki’s right as usual. Fed was a late substitution for Nadal when he dropped out.

Okiegal Says:

@Skeezer…….Wrong, not kidding! You’ll have to admit this attention he’s getting now is much more positive than the cry baby fiasco, withdrawing from WTF and then playing lights out at DC. As I said, he can thank Rafa for making the IPTL exho possible for him, right?? Wasn’t Roger picked up for it after Rafa couldn’t?? That’s the way I understood it.

BTW what does ROFL stand for??

Okiegal Says:

@Elina……Thanks…..I am right about that issue!!Appreciate you having my back!!

skeezer Says:

Ok,
Have u watched any of the India Tennis? Fed is THE current Global major rock star. He doesn’t need any other player to make his popularity.
During the Nole/Fed match; most of the crowd was standing the whole time, including Sampras And Becker. Thanks Rafa? Lol.
Thank Fed and Nole and the rest of the players for making the event the Popular Global Extraodinare of the Holidays!

Okiegal Says:

Correction to my post at 9:40…..Not gracious 3 times but in Rafa’s native tongue, should be gracias 3 times…..

jane Says:

all over twitter today it was sweet to read the comments of indian tennis fans who were over the moon at having seen fed, as well as the current number 1, as well as pete, santoro, goran, etc… clearly the event was a hit – as i am sure it was at the other locations too.

this event brought tennis to places where the fans don’t often get to see the top players let alone legends of the past.

as long as it’s not detrimental to the current players’ down-time and/or their practice schedules, then it seems like a hit.

Okiegal Says:

@Skeezer……No I haven’t got to watch it, in fact I wasn’t sure I could even find it being live streamed. From the vids I’ve seen it looks like they’re having fun with it and people are enjoying seeing these greats play. I know Fed is a favorite global athlete, but if Rafa hadn’t dropped out Roger wouldn’t have participated in it. I remember when this deal came about months ago Roger wasn’t interested in taking part……by Rafa not being able to Roger took his place, that’s all I was saying…..and I’m aware that Roger doesn’t need any other player to make his popularity, nor does Rafa…..he’s a very popular player in his own
right…….

Giles Says:

“Fed is THE current Global major rock star”. Says who? This is just too funny for words, now I’ve heard it all!
ROFL many times over!

the DA Says:

“Yep…it’s Roger Federer!”

Yep and tennis will die after he retires right? That means tennis-x will wither away too. So sad ;)

sienna Says:

I really dislike this from Federer.
He should be resting, taking care of his body and mind. training prepairing, dealing with his family.

meamwhile Nadal is preparing himself for the mustwin slam of his life.
and beware he is an underdog.
I dont like it at all.

history is up for grabbes and Federer is playing around instead of focus for Australië.

Okiegal Says:

These exhos the players take part in are stress free and fun for the players……and very lucrative. I think it’s OK for the players to take part. They don’t stop playing at all in the off season, wouldn’t playing in these exhibitions be nothing more than merely a practice? This is wonderful for the fans too. I don’t think we should come down too hard on them about it. After all……..all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Won’t they have some time off between this exho and Doha and AO?? I believe there’s lots of difference in playing for fun and playing for a title…..imo

sienna Says:

it is not so that matches are fysically demanding.
its more like:
- travel hours
- press conf
- comercial activity
- no rest
- no family
- schedulING

these are all taxing the player.

Humble Rafa Says:

I will let others to distracted by this comic non sense. I am going for my 2nd “grand slam”, cementing my goat owner status, while others are practicing dancing.

Time to hit the courts…

Okiegal Says:

@Sienna……You do make a good point, but this really isn’t anything they’re not used to anyway….

Hippy Chick Says:

Some seem to suffer with Rafa obsession, even when hes not playing, some cant seem to resist talking about the guy, even when the thread has nothing to do with the guy,Rafas has never been the favorite at the AO,that will again be Novak,as it is every year, and in every other HC tourney….

madmax Says:

Roger has some moves!

Okiegal Says:

@madmax…..So do I……I can still bust a move, I just need a little more space!! Lol

Matador Says:

Well, the image is everything, not?

skeezer Says:

You can have the image, which in this case was earned, when your the GOAT. Vamos Fed!
