Good news for Rafael Nadal fans. The former No. 1 arrived today at the Australian Open.

Here’s vine footage of Rafa at the airport:

Nadal will once again seek to complete a second career Grand Slam in Melbourne starting next week. Rafa, who lost in the final last year to Stan Wawrinka, will be seeded third, which could place him in the same half of the draw as Novak Djokovic or Roger Federer with a chance of also landing with Andy Murray.

Nadal has reached the finals in Melbourne the last two times he’s played the event. However, Nadal enters this year having missed the majority of the second half of 2014 and a recent loss last week to Michael Berrer in Doha where he won the doubles.

Michael Says:

I think Rafa wants to you have a feel of the courts and has arrived much early to help him in good preparation. He is privileged with a good record at this venue and the slow hard courts with high bounce helps his game which is similar to clay courts. Last year he made the finals and was unfortunate that he suffered from a back ache during the course of this match which prevented him to competitively contest. But this year it will be a real test for him and remains to be seen if he can reach the last stages ?

@Michael. Rafa is in Melbourne a bit earlier than usual because of an event “Rafa’s Summer Set” which will take place on Wednesday 14 January. He’ll be playing a few Exos.

Okiegal Says:

I really don’t care why he’s early……the main thing is that he’s there. I hope he’s in great form! Can’t wait to see him play. I watched every bit of the dubs finals and he looked very comfortable out there. VAMOS!!

Michael Says:

Giles, thanks for the information. Whatever it is, he needs to spend more time on the court to get his mojo back. Exos might help his cause to get that feel. Yes, I agree with Okiegal that his mere presence will add to the charm and glamour. Hope he recovers his form. All the best to him.

prashant Shinde Says:

ravi Says:

I think rafa will prove the world by winning this tournament.don’t underestimate rafa he is like a tennis ball, the more pressure u apply on him, the much higher he will bounce

steve Says:

can someone record the rafa summer set?

Matador Says:

Australia is not like Wimbledon for him, so he can at least advance until qf, and then, who knows. Sky is the limit for him.

Okiegal Says:

@Michael……Thanks for the good wishes to Rafa. I hope to see all the players healthy and in good form
so we will be treated to a great exciting tournament!

Sushant Says:

Humble Rafa Says:

I am thankful that bad characters haven’t arrived to contribute to this post.

I have very low expectations. I am afraid of qualifiers, terrified of seeded players.

I will not say anything about players’ spouses who intimidate players from the stands. Those are the bottom of the cess pool.

rafitafan Says:

hope nadal reach QF in the asutralian open
but reality is that nadal had not won a tournament in a year except roland garros (and madrid but nishikori retired in that one)
nadal had not pass QF in any tournament he entered since roland garros, in most he did not even reach QF, losing to players 100+ ranked
if he had not won 2014 roland garros he may be retired by now
if he continues his actual performance and fail big in roland garros, we may see his last 6 months when he will retire
then again, he may start winning an had another 2013 comebackyear, but i had the feeling he will never get the 10th roland garros, afterall…
2011 won thanks to federer who eliminated djokovic
2012 won thanks to rain
2013 won thanks to the net
2014 won because like federer, djokovic lose before it began, entering the match with all that 3 year bagage
nadal will lose in 2015 roland garros, but just like in 2009 he wont lose againts a big name but a regular player without mental blocks
