“Maybe I didn’t have too much energy — I didn’t push a lot like I always do, I was waiting too much,” she said. “But in the second set was much better. I was trying to find something more, trying to be more aggressive. Of course I would love to have played a little bit better, but I still have my chance [to make the semifinals].”

Federer Headlines Basel, Ferrer in Valencia; ATP Previews

Federer (2014,’11-10,’08-06) is the lone former champ in the field. “I remember I was always very nervous on court because I always wanted to do so well here,” said Federer, who lost to Andre Agassi in the first round in his first appearance in 1998.

Doi, Berdych, Cilic, Ferrer, Kuznetsova Win Weekend ATP/WTA Titles

He’s not officially in, but David Ferrer took a big step toward qualifying for the ATP World Tour Finals on Sunday when he defeated American Steve Johnson 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 to win the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, Austria.
