World Group I
ADHEREL
Czech Republic at Romania
World No. 2 Simona Halep is reportedly delaying nose surgery to compete for Romania, joined by Irina-Camelia Begu, Monica Niculescu and Andreea Mitu, against the formidable Czech team of Petra Kvitova, Karolina Pliskova, Barbora Strycova and Denisa Allertova on hardcourt.

Switzerland at Germany
This is a mouth-watering tie as Belinda Bencic and Timea Bacsinszky in singles, and Martina Hingis in doubles travel to take on Australian Open winner Angie Kerber and teammates Andrea Petkovic, Julia Goerges and Annika Beck on hardcourt.

Italy at France
France’s Kristina Mladenovic and Caroline Garcia stunned Italy in last year’s opening round, and the same cast will go again Italians Sara Errani, Camila Giorgi, Francesca Schiavone and Martina Caregaro on hardcourt.

Netherlands at Russia
The Russians will be overwhelming favorites with former world No. 1 Maria Sharapova and former world No. 2 Svetlana Kuznetsova fronting the home indoor hardcourt against Dutchwoman Kiki Bertens, Richel Hogenkamp, Cindy Burger and former world No. 1 junior Arantxa Rus.

World Group II

Australia at Slovakia
Slovak veterans Dominika Cibulkova and Daniela Hantuchova, along with Anna Karolina Schmiedlova defend the home indoor hardcourt against Aussies Sam Stosur, Casey Dellacqua and Jarmila Wolfe.

Belarus at Canada
Genie Bouchard skipping this tie puts Belarus in the driver’s seat, with former world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka steering on indoor hardcourt in Quebec City.

Poland at USA
Venus Williams and Sloane Stephens lead the U.S. team in Hawaii, which looked to be a match before Aggie Radwanska declined participation, leaving Klaudia Jans-Ignacik, Magda Linette, Paula Kania and Alicja Rosolska to get pounded for Poland on outdoor hardcourt.

Spain at Serbia
Both teams front big names as world No. 3 Garbine Muguruza for Spain is joined by Carla Suarez Navarro, and former No. 1 Jelena Jankovic for Serbia is joined by Bojana Jovanovski, competing indoors on hardcourt.
