Roger Federer won’t be at the Indian Wells event next month, but fans in California can still catch the Swiss great in their home state this Oscar weekend.

Federer attended Harvey Weinstein’s star-studded pre-Oscars party Saturday night at Montage hotel in Beverly Hills. And Federer will reportedly be at the main event tonight supporting Leonardo DiCaprio.

Van Persie Says:

Is he nominated for his role in “Danish girl”?…sorry, could not resist

AndyMira Says:

Knee surgery? What knee surgery?I’m fine now..

skeezer Says:

I’m injured. What’s a guy to do?
Go to the Oscars of course, Bond style. πŸ‘

Van Persie Says:

AM,I am surprised to see, that this news is more important than Thiem-Tomic match. Margot suggested alos, they would deserve a tread

AndyMira Says:

VP..while we all fell under Thiem’s fever this last couple of days but clearly sean not interested with Thiem at all..think about it..while nole was booed in Dubai the other day..suddenly there’s federer’s picture in training..now..there’s should be a thread to thiem..but there isn’t..instead there’s roger’s picture with glamourous women..i scratched my head now..

Van Persie Says:

AM, I will say no more :)

AndyMira Says:

Aww!VP!there’s so much to talk about..such as whether roger will meet with his twin..you know..Quentin Tarantino?

Van Persie Says:

AM, I like Tarantino movies….

AndyMira Says:

Oh yeah?such as?

Van Persie Says:

Quite all: Reservoir dogs, Kill Bill, his latest Hategull 8, and so on..like dark humor

skeezer Says:

“…News is more important..”
I don’t know if it is more important, but it is important. Roger represents the Tennis Industry, and wears it well.Tennis is at the Oscars. Great for the ATP and Tennis that he is welcomed and recognized at the most prestigious event in the film industry. The more good tennis gets spread around the world media, the better!

Van Persie Says:

the most prestigious, but not the best….reminds me that Kubrick never got the Oscar… Peter O’ Toole got it only for the entire career…Oscar eveny
t is bulls…it for each person with basic intelectual capabilities

Van Persie Says:

correction: Oscar event

Dave Says:

I was at the Thiem vs Tomic match last night. It was awesome. Tomic was getting away with talking to his coaches way to much. I had to yell something from my seat, and than others also started yelling about coaching. It was getting out of hand. I guess they don’t care about that at 500 tournaments. I met Thiem this morning at breakfast. He seems very humble and nice. I watched him all week and even though his style is nothing like Rafa’s style, his attitude and his will to fight for every single point and never give up, is the same as Rafa’s. I was the most impressed with his court coverage. This guy can run amazingly fast.

AndyMira Says:

Hey VP..i don’t have the opportunity to watch hatefull 8 yet..the movie ok?What’s the fuss about it..

Van Persie Says:

I liked it, But I also know some, who did not enjoy it…matter of taste

Van Persie Says:

Dave, wow, you were lucky. Appreciate the information. May I tell, that he’s mouvements on cout remind me on Nole’s? :)

AndyMira Says:

Dave!it’s great to hear from you..i see you was charmed by Thiem as well..i thought me and VP has been spellbinding by him..

Dave Says:

Honestly,

I met a lot of players this week. We stayed at the same hotel as all the players. Cilic was super nice. I talked with Bedene a few times and went to his practice. I went and saw Nishikori practice. I sat beside Dudi Sela on a plane and didn’t even know he was a tennis player until we started talking. I got to ask him every question that I ever wanted to know. He was really nice.

Van Persie Says:

Dudi Sela’s parents are from Romania, hehe ;)

Dave Says:

The player that surprised me the most and was one of the highlights of the tournament for me was Taylor Fritz. And actually his cross court backhand and inside out cross court forhand reminds me of Djokovic the most. I was surprised how similar it was at times. He is going to be amazing as is Thiem.

AndyMira Says:

Dave..too bad you didn’t met with rafa..otherwise i want you to ask him why he still didn’t hire Agassi yet..

AndyMira Says:

Yeah..Taylor Fritz..God..why all of a sudden the young guns start shooting? And what a shooting that was..

Dave Says:

AndyMira,

I know what you mean. It is a great tournament for meeting the players. There aren’t to many ATP tournaments where the courts are at the same hotel that the players are at. Everything is connected. You walk by the players all the time. You eat breakfast beside them everyday. You can just go to the courts and watch them practice. It’s so easy to talk with them.

Dave Says:

Even after the players lost, most of them just stayed the rest of the week and enjoyed the Acapulco resort.

Dave Says:

My wife said hi to Nicole(Grigor’s girlfriend)and got a picture of her. No one knew who she was and just walked right by her after the Dimitrov vs Thiem match.

AndyMira Says:

Really!..i can’t believe no one recognize her..anyway did you meet with the Eva Longoria? She’s beautiful isn’t she?

Dave Says:

Who is Eva Longoria dating? I think they did show her on camera actually. My wife said: Is that Eva Longoria? We weren’t sure. So I guess it was her.

J-Kath Says:

@Skeezer

Roger not recognized? Do you really believe that Skeezer? Welcomed? Why not. But if it was about spreading interest in Tennis why not have the world No. 1.

Purcell Says:

Well, given that the world no 1 has an eye problem, he’d probably trip over the red carpet.

J-Kath Says:

Of course, Purcell, forgot about that!

skeezer Says:

Lets face it, Rog fits right in this crowd and wears the suit well. If Nole was there, he would be looking for Halle Berry and Keanu Reeves whilst snacking on Nutella.

Markus Says:

With Roger’s achievements and being the most beloved and most popular worldwide in his particular field, anything he does becomes newsworthy. Those who disagree can just skip the news. For every one of them, there are many more who appreciate the news.

chrisford1 Says:

Skeezer, you know nothing. What, you are saying only one tennis player has the tux suits, the fame, the sophisticated savoire faire” to fit in with Hollywood “players”???

As for Djokovic, he wears a tux a bit better than even Federer does, is slightly better looking (sorry, the nose…the nose…) – plus has some entertainment skills and appears to fit in with many celeb fans of his. The guy schmoozes well. And has been in LA, a place he loves, to schmooze with the movie stars, LA Lakers, do charity events with buds like the Bryan Bros – more than a few times in the past before IW starts. This year though, now Belgrade to play the Kazakhstanis.

The Williams sistas were at several Oscar functions last year, so they fit in well. In fact, Serena was at one swank function holding up ex-BF Common’s award – the co-Oscar for best song.

So Fed got an invite, and showed up since he wasn’t doing Davis Cup like many other players since he got that crossed off his bucket list. Glad Fed did get an invite and was able to attend. Perhaps he committed to being there to Weinstein Bros and more importantly Mirka – and maybe if they accompanied him got his daughters invites to the kids of celebs parties with kiddie entertainment and bags of swag. More power to him.

I’m sure if the celeb parties could get Rafa – they would. Or Maria. She’s been there before with this special crowd.

Van Persie Says:

Hehe,Purcell, looks like it you are also a so called “tennis fan”;)…a few hilarious comments from”Fed haters” are needed, in order to get your precious presence on the same table

Van Persie Says:

^^ I adressed to you, as I find your monikor very fascinating, there is a very interesting 1-1 translation in Romanian for it :)

Wog Boy Says:

Bummer,
Roger was overlooked for the best supporting act in 2015, oh well, you can’t win everything, no?

skeezer Says:

CF1,
“I’m sure if the celeb parties could get Rafa – they would……”
Or Novak. But they didn’t.
You no nothing, your eye sklls lack focus on who wears a better tux. Good thing yours is just an eye candy opinion.
Ya know, there is noses…and then there is heads…oh the head.

skeezer Says:

@wog boy,
Apparently they overlooked Nole as best actor also, and a fine actor he is…..well, world #1 and all.

Wog Boy Says:

@skeezer,

No1e is the best player in the world mind you, not just the world #1 as you try to put him down, to St Roger, wasn’t there, but St Roger was, expecting something, but honestly he looked out of place..and guess what, they didn’t even mentioned on Aussie news he was there, another bummer.

If anybody on TX told me that you are going to become such a worshiper just few years ago, I would tell him he is crazy, but reading your posts today, oh man you are a real worshiper of St Roger, pity:(

Van Persie Says:

“Apparently they overlooked Nole as best actor also, and a fine actor he is…..well, world #1 and all.”

He got his award in London at the O2, November 2015 ;)

Wog Boy Says:

“He got his award in London at the O2, November 2015 ;)”

…and in 2014 when the other actor failed to turn up, and 2013…and 2012…who cares about Hollywood, just another village in the middle of the nowhere, important for the locals, London is London mate, Europe;)

Van Persie Says:

You got me WB ;)

Green Lady Says:

Roger does look great here, but Rafa and Nole also look good in suits,Rafas just done some more shoots for Hilfiger in a suit, and looks pretty hot i must say.

AndyMira Says:

@Green Lady..sadly,that’s all that rafa has been good lately..honestly i much prefer him looks hot on court rather than in a suits..

Green Lady Says:

AndyMira true and me too,but rather than worrying about it,lets just sit back and enjoy what happens next, let Rafa play and enjoy his tennis,he doesnt look back he looks forward, and nothing will change what hes already achieved.

AndyMira Says:

Hmm..very true Green Lady..for some of us it’s still hard to accept this and i myself still not successful in embracing this painful fact..but we’ll try..it takes time is all..
