Murray has won only two of their last 16 meetings, has lost 12 of the last 13 to Djokovic, and will drop to No. 3 behind Roger Federer on the ATP rankings after raising the Madrid trophy last year.

The WTA tour is an absolute car crash right now in terms of illnesses, injuries, tournament pull-outs, and no one being anywhere near No. 1 Serena Williams in the rankings, despite the American winning no titles thus far in 2016.

Halep’s Game on Clay Back in Play with Madrid Title

“I expected a tough match today,” said Halep, who was 1-3 career against Cibulkova entering the final. “I thought that I would struggle a little bit with her shots, but I was very strong on my legs and could block. I could make my game, I can say.”
