World No. 11 David Goffin and No. 14 Roberto Bautista Agut have been named alternates for the upcoming ATP Finals which begin on Sunday.

Both No. 10 Tomas Berdych and No. 12 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga declined invitations to the event, and with No. 13 Nick Kyrgios suspended, the alternate positions fell to Goffin and Bautista Agut.

And with Milos Raonic fighting a quad injury, Goffin could see duty in London.

Alternates earn $100,000 apiece and can earn points and prize money.

RZ Says:

I’d say there’s a good chance that one of them gets to play.

Farah Diba Says:

Hey Sean..ATP Finals is about to start in just 2 days time, you don’t want to put a thread to preview it?I’m very very curious to know what your crystal balls have to say about the winner.Whether it’s ANDY MURRAY ahem!ahem![not very good No 1??ooppss your words as i recall]..or The Great Novak Djokovic whom only last week just relinquished his very long and very deserved No 1..

J-Kath Says:

Weird – the picture above this title is Goffin and Federer????

Willow Says:

Yeah true should be Goffin and RBA ….

J-Kath Says:

Thanks Willow – Had to put my glasses on thought I was seeing things.

Willow Says:

Had to take a rain check J-Kath, i didnt mind the none tennis talk stuff, but i got rather irritated that people seemed to forget, or didnt seem to care that today was Armistace day, granted the feelings are running high with the election, but i just thought this was important too, but i guess not ….

J-Kath Says:

Willow: I always believe people should be allowed to post what they want, especially when events in the world can affect a lot of us however great the geographic distances.

But I avoided the US politics. Three weeks previously Walter’s US college friends stayed with me and I heard so much about the changes and choices in the US I couldn’t begin to join in the comments.

Armistice was about wars between nations and their peoples, so was the US Vote.

Travis Bickle Says:

“…but i got rather irritated that people seemed to forget, or didn’t seem to care that today was Armistace day…”

When is that important to you, perhaps you should learn the word and how to spell it – it is Armistice and not Armistace!
You are on a high horse being irritated and scolding folks for not caring about a day you cannot even properly pronounce. It’s not like misspelling someone’s name. Don’t you realize that you diminish this glorious day by misspelling it? Tsk, tsk, tsk…

There is only one thing worse than a hypocrite, and that is a dumb hypocrite…

Willow Says:

As the saying goes, it takes one to know one, someone who cant even have a conversation without taking things to a personal level, Armistice sorry ! ….

Margot Says:

Travis: the only thing being able to spell accurately indicates is that you have a very good visual memory. You may be like me in that I can “see” words in my head and can also “see” if they look right or not.
But I have taught dyslexic kids who couldn’t remember how to spell a word, from one day to the next.
We live in an imperfect world my “virtual” conversationalist and unfortunately the good fairy didn’t hand out equal gifts.

Travis Bickle Says:

Margot,

You missed my point!
I said above “it’s not like misspelling someone’s name”…
No one is perfect and spelling errors are common among ordinary folks, without even bringing dyslexics into the conversation.

However, if you claimed that something was important, and especially scolded others for not sharing your beliefs about that important thing/person/day, you should make a special effort to at least properly spell it! Otherwise, you are not really respecting that thing/person/day, as much as you are claiming to do – which makes you a bloody hypocrite.

If I went on a forum and preached and scold you all for not being good Chrastians, would I not look like a hypocrite…
Or like recently, when a member of white-trash community drove her SUV to a Brooklyn party I attended (the party was half a block from a subway station) and started preaching to all of us about dangers of “global warning”. She kept saying “warning” all night and was confused as to why we all laugh at her – she thought it was because we did’n believe in climate change…

Nothing is more dangerous than a stupid, opinionated and passive-aggressive person with just enough IQ to use internet and operate a motor vehicle. They getting on their high horses and scolding others for not respecting “Armistaces” or “global warnings” is only a tip of the iceberg. What lies beneath is usually xenophobia, racism and bigotry!

I don’t have much respect to folks like that. Similar to feelings you revealed here lately towards Donald and Nigel.

Margot Says:

Lol Travis, I do hope you aren’t a “Chrastian” it does sound painful! Well, we agree on one thing anyway, a dislike of hypocrites. Ok I’ll stop defending Willow then, because, if I do, I’m going to sound horribly patronising, another thing I heartily dislike. Just wish sometimes…you’d direct your rapier like intelligence towards more deserving causes on here…..no, no, not me, says she ducking hastily and putting head beneath parapet….

Willow Says:

Margot thanks but its OK, i dont seek his approval and i dont want it either,so ill save it for those that actually care, anyway im sorry if i did offend people for spelling it wrong, i was just wondering why its disrespectful to spell something wrong, as theres plenty of people on this forum that spell words wrong all the time , does he not realize id been working and was probably just tired, and how dare he claim i dont respect that day, especially as i had relatives who not only lived through that, but also fought through that ….

Margot Says:

Ok Willow. Take care.

Okiegal Says:

It’s back!!!!!! Lol

Willow Says:

Thanks Margot i appreciate that, ive fallen out of favour with alot of people here lately, so i doubt i will make the top of many peoples christmas cards lists, and i dont particularly care to be honest either, damn shame when people need to resort to personal insults when putting their points across, still says more about them than me, i only came here to talk tennis, and give my opinion on things i agree or disagree with, i was never in it to make friends, i have friends all over the country with the life style we lead ….

Willow Says:

Hi Okie ;-) ….

Farah Diba Says:

@Willow..That’s okay..it’s normal..some people like us and some not..same goes with me..some like me and some hates me..but that’s okay..at the end of the day,at least we’re proud of ourselves because we’re manage to get through a day without hurting people’s feeling..That’s something right?

J-Kath Says:

Willow:

I’m writing you a Christmas card as we speak. It will sit on my mantlepiece with two others that will also be symbolic (me to W. and vice-versa).

Margot Says:

Farah Mira: I would still love you even if…..draws a deep, deep breath, if if you suddenly started having a big crush on … Isner or Tomic or ?!
Willow: right attitude. As darling Farah says, just by continuing to breathe one is bound to upset some people, shhhhh….

J-Kath Says:

Okie: How are you doing?

Willow Says:

Thankyou dear ladies ;-)) ….

Farah Diba Says:

@M…Wot?Wot?…Isner?Or Tomic?…Ermm..Isner is ooookay but Tomic?Oh my God M..Why don’t you just pairing me with your slippers instead..

Btw…Sorry,Wales just draw with Serbia..late goal of all goal!

Okiegal Says:

@J-Kath I am doing OK! Tennis posts have been a little scant lately…..as I don’t have a horse in this race! Missing my favorite, but those are the breaks!

@Willow….Hello to you my dear! You are a tough bird…..you never seem to let the

Okiegal Says:

Oops….sent before ready…..as I was saying you don’t seem to let the 💩💩 of the world bother you!! Way to hang Willow! Don’t know about you but I am ready for Rafa….win lose or draw I want him to do something even if it’s wrong!! I now have the tennis channel and no Rafa. I have been watching dear Andy and so happy for him and his adoring fans! He has been playing so good. #1 LOVE IT!

Ready for Aussie Open….2017!!

J-Kath Says:

J-Kath, I cannot imagine why you begged this troll to come back.

Willow Says:

I Wouldve thought calling someone white trash community was racist ? ….

Danica Says:

TB,
Man, “global warning” cannot be compared to Willow’s mispelling in haste. It’s more like Kramer from “Seinfeld” insisting on “Statute of liberty” :).

Willow Says:

Thankyou Danica for sticking up for me, be carefull you dont get attacked for it, but then again it seems that only happens to me anyway, go figure lol ….

J-Kath Says:

Lackie: TB can be funny and laughter is the only medicine I ache for – but certainly I don’t encourage personal attacks….I’ve always supported Willow directly and indirectly.

Willow Says:

Thankyou J-Kath, BTW We had two minutes silence at work today for Armistice day with an “I”, and not Armistace with an “A”, 27 old people and us carers ! ….

J-Kath Says:

Yes, Willow. and “Armistace” was petty and was not funny. I recall I said something direct to him about his personal remarks about a couple of weeks ago and had to give up in the end.

If only he would keep to the joking and quit the personal he can be highly amusing.

Danica Says:

Oh Willow, I don’t care if I’m attacked by anyone on iternet ;).
Stay who and what you are ( certainly don’t need me to tell you that :) )
