As if time stands still, eight years after first occupying the Top 4 seeds at Wimbleon, the Big 4 again lead the men’s field at the AELTC, the club announced today.

Andy Murray returns as the top seed followed by former champions Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Combined the quartet has won every Wimbledon since 2002! And it’s the first time they’ve held the Top 4 positions at a Slam since the 2014 Wimbledon.

Djokovic, who won the title in 2015, rose from his ranking of No. 4 to No. 2. Nadal, who hasn’t played well at Wimbledon in recent years slipped from No. 2 to No. 4.

Thanks to his ninth Halle title, Roger Federer also moved up two spots from No. 3. And outside the Top 10, Gilles Muller vaulted 10 spots to No. 16.

The tournament begins Monday with Andy Murray taking Centre Court at 1pm. The draw will be released Friday morning.

Truthsquad Says:

I would have made Federer the 2nd seed based on history and recent form well ahead of Djokovic. I would have left Noel as #4 seed.

Daniel Says:

Let´s see who of the Big 4 gest DelPo in third round, as I am sure with DelPo´s bad luck he will be dran to one of them,

Also R16 nobody will want to play Zverev, Berdych, Dimitrov, Tosnga who all can get hot and knows how to play on grass.

J-Kath Says:

Truthsquad:

Wimbledon “differences” in ranking pertains to success on grass last year with a few nods to the year before.Hence Nole is rightly listed as no.2.

FedExpress Says:

I thougt Wimbl considers the past grass results only or am I wrong?

Why is nadal is still a 4th seed? What has he done since 2012 at Wimbledon? Not much. Even missed two editions of it.

Colin Says:

It’s been announced that Andy and Kim are expecting their second child. Whatever has been the case with some other players,I think we can safely assume his domestic situation will be entirely positive in its effect on his game.

J-Kath Says:

It is not simply how players have succeeded at Wimbledon – it’s simply that grass results are calculated in a certain way because there are few grass tournaments. Each player still holds the points they have gained elsewhere. Why don’t you look up Wiki etc. and they will explain.
