and Venus

dryeagle Says:

Venus is a former champion

funches Says:

I actually don’t feel the field is wide open.

Give me Muguruza, Keys, Svitolina and Halep, and I’ll give everybody the rest of the field and take my chances. I can’t see anyone else stringing together seven matches.

Bette Streep Says:

funches – it is indeed a wide open field. Did anyone expect the winners of this years French Open or Wimbledon? And without Serena, I am sure there are at least 20 players who think they have a chance of winning. We might even see another shock winner like Flavia Pennetta a few years ago.

Willow Says:

OMG AndiMira looks horrible :-(

funches Says:

Bette Steep,

We’re on. I get the four players I mentioned and you get the other 124 and let’s see who comes out ahead.

We’ve now had several months of play without Serena to find out the contenders. Ostapenko came out of nowhere to win RG, but that was on clay. Muguruza always has been one of the most talented ball strikers in the world, so it’s hardly a shock she put it all together at Wimbledon.

I repeat. Muguruza, Keys, Halep or Svitolina will win the U.S. Open. No one else has a chance.
