Homecountry hero Grigor Dimitrov’s withdrawal due to injury leaves the Diema Xtra Sofia Open without a Top 10 player, now led by No. 15 Stan Wawrinka working on a comeback from a knee injury.

“I and my team had to take one of the most difficult decisions to skip this year’s edition of the tournament in Sofia,” said Dimitrov in a statement. “I will not be at 100 percent ready.”

Seeds: Stan Wawrinka, Adrian Mannarino, Gilles Muller, Philipp Kohlschreiber, Robin Haase, Viktor Troicki, Joao Sousa, Evgeny Donskoy

Floaters: Sergiy Stakhovsky, Andreas Seppi, Marcos Baghdatis, Mikhail Kukushkin

Notes:

The Top 4 seeds receive opening-round byes…

Almost zero start power outside of Wawrinka…

Potential tough starts for (4) Kohlschreiber vs. the all-court Stakhovsky, (3) Muller vs. the always-upset-minded Seppi, and (2) Mannarino vs. the Baghdatis-Kukushkin winner…

Wildcards were awarded to Bulgarians Adrian Andreev, Alexander Donski and Dimitar Kuzmanov…

In addition to Dimitrov (shoulder) withdrawing, other players pulling were Matthew Ebden, Chung Hyeon (foot blisters from the Australian Open), Filip Krajinovic and Lu Yen-hsun…

No former champions are in the field of the third-year event.
