AndyMira Says:

Okiegal Says:

@Margot……If you could see Okiegal in the flesh, you would know that she’s definitely been in the kitchen. Lol FYI…….a hot kitchen has nothing to do with why I choose not be that involved anymore. Have a great week-end!

Giles Says:

“ He, of the Cup- of- love gestures”. ROFL.
I think one or other of them will back out nearer the time.

Humble Rafa Says:

I think one or other of them will back out nearer the time.

I need my money. Just saying.

Margot Says:

So CF1, where are your lines in the sand, or do you have none?

Django Says:

It seems the US and Britain govts have no problem with king Solomon.

Margot Says:

Django: the UK Gov gets loads of dosh from the despicable arms trade.
Terribly difficult to take any kind of moral stand in which case.

chris ford1 Says:

Margot – I’ll care about the Middle East, where the US squandered 4 trillion dollars and 38,000 dead and maimed in “regime change” in Iraq alone – when it is in our national interest.
Yet another political assassination in a region noted for them is not exactly the news story of the year if you look past the media hype. We Americans and Brits did slow motion assassinations ourselves of Saddam Hussein and Qadaffi and various Ba’athist leaders – by proxy. We are silent about Islamist Erdogen’s torture and extrajudicial executions of Kurds and coup plotters, because…well…Turkey is our beloved NATO partner. We should stick our noses back in only when it is in our vital national interest to meddle one more time in their internal affairs.
And that goes double, even triple for international sporting bodies meddling in ME politics.
If lefties wish to virtue signal about something truly important, maybe they should look at what China has been doing other than gutting jobs across America and Europe with low labor costs and intellectual property theft – and look at Tibet and Xinjiang – where the natives are essentially now in giant totalitarian prison camps (a la N Korea’s way) with all pervasive security. Thanks to the Han invaders now replacing Tibetans and Uighurs as majorities in their own lands.
No tennis fan says diddly about Rafa and Novak praising much of what the Chinese people and nation are while ignoring the situation in Western China and China’s territorial aggression because that is how the game is played. And of course the typical tennis fan is swamped with Chinastuff in their own flats.
Khashoggi, nephew of the infamous arms dealer, was involved in weapons sales, violent Islamism, and money laundering himself as a typical ME wheeler-dealer, as well as somehow getting journalist credentials with no quals meriting them – from a liberal US rag. He plotted against the Saudi regime, and paid for it with his life. One man.
Human Rights Watch has declared the Chinese government is conducting a mass, systematic campaign of human rights violations against Turkic Muslims in Xinjiang in northwestern China on a scale and pervasiveness akin to the high tech security state the Israelis have established in the West Bank. And added mass incarceration of millions in re-education camps, treated their faith and culture as “diseases to be wiped clean”. A tad bigger human rights issue than yet another dead ME wheeler-dealer.
And pros will be going to several Chinese tournaments and Labour Party Brits will flock to department stores to stock up on Chinese bargains with no talk of boycotts. But what China does to it’s own nationals, even if they are not from the dominant Han race, should be carefully thought about because China will soon have the capacity to treat people of many of it’s neighbors in a way they treat Tibetans and Uighure.
That’s how the world works. Khashoggi is small potatos, China’s rights violations impact millions in terrible manner…and is a problem of far greater magnitude.
Tennis should stay out of both situations. Liberals, members of the Labour Party, American and German progressives should view both nations actions carefully – just not forget the China problem is far greater and could directly affect N America ANZAC, and Europe besides people in or adjacent to China.
At least Rafa and Novak will take some wealth out of China and return it to Europe. A rare event that should be welcomed in a way.

Margot Says:

CF!: I didn’t ask for a political polemic, I asked where your lines in the sand were, From what I can gather you have none.
An interesting moral position.

Humble Rafa Says:

It must be good to be Brit.

Start a drama saying you want to leave. Someone opens the door for you. You just sit and stare at the door all day.

AndyMira Says:

I don’t understand s@#$ what HR is talking about!

J-Kath Says:

A-M: I think it is BREXIT!!!

Humble Rafa Says:

J-Kath

You clearly are smarter than AM. Not sure why, all people with AM initials are sort of slow.

J-Kath Says:

Humble Rafa said: “Not sure why, all people with AM initials are sort of slow”.

It’s quite easy HR – it’s because a.m. is when people are just waking up – understand why you are bemused, it’s because you, my dear simple friend, never achieves smartness at any time – really gutted for you….

Margot Says:

Kath: HR has been so rude about AM., no reason why she should know about BREXIT, but it is quite sharp about the BREXIT omnishambles.

J-Kath Says:

Margot: – but, but – that was exactly what Humble was talking about in his initial comment re A-M.

I am personally enraged with the conduct of our so-called government…hence I was challenging HR. Evidently this was not clear. You are entitled to post on any subject – and while I always value your views – on this occasion I’m not quite sure why you felt the need to engage.

chrisford Says:

Dear ol’ Margot – I was quite clear. We should only intervene or impose brutal sanctions when it is in the vital interest of the USA (or Britain) to do so.
We have been burned all too many times meddling in the ME when it was not in our vital national interest.
What you called a polemic I took the trouble to explain WHY China is a threat to our vital interests while yet another ruling entity deciding to whack what they deem an internal enemy is business as usual in Syria, KSA, Iran, Turkey, Yemen, Libya, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine. If it would make you happy, I say I deplore, double deplore the killing of yet another Arab wheeler dealer – but past that, it’s not our business. .

AndyMira Says:

UUWWAAAAA!!…..Yum,yum,yum….just woke up….and…..What?..hahahahahahahahahaha!….
M & JK….That’s alright!…Don’t fight bcoz of me…HR was absolutely right!…I AM SLOW!Hehehehe….

AndyMira Says:

I meant to say “What HR”?

Margot Says:

CF1: No need to mansplain anything, I am fully cognisant with world affairs.
Kath: CIF

J-Kath Says:

Margot: I didn’t know what CIF stood for, so looked it up. Got: “Cost, Insurance and Freight”….most illuminating!!!

…..not to be out-done I did find “Comment Is Free” – —-
not to hold the cat’s ass to the fire (as my normally very polite mother used to say)my answer is “YES” and “NO”.

PS: to A-M: I didn’t know whether the conversation was re. You, HR or BREXIT. Ah well, it’s a sunny day chez-moi and hope sunny dispositions are embracing us all.

Margot Says:

AM: I expect dear jalep’s time is all taken up with the mid term elections. My heart and all my good wishes go out to her in these dark, dark times.

AndyMira Says:

Yes M!….I’m positive that she’s very busy with mid-term elections atm….2 weeks ago she gave her latest update on TG & she also included her twitter ac that she opened especially for those who shares a similar opinion about Trump…If u want to get in touch with her,u could follow her on twitter M…Yeah!Politics definitely her main priority atm….even her beloved WTA is taking a backseat now….

AndyMira Says:

JK!…Hehehe…Yeah!Definitely about Brexit…

chris ford1 Says:

Luckily for our liberal Brits, al-Guardian just woke up to how bad it is in Xinjiang – one new Han Chinese prison built for Uighurs has a capacity of over 130,000 people. An all-pervasive security state of cameras with face recognition computers monitoring all roads and city intersections. 1 million Uighur families scheduled on notice of the authorities to hold lunches and dinners a few times a year for their Han race policeman or woman assigned the family.

You know, to HELP their “little brothers and sisters”.

Apparently, also regularly including taking their children aside to see if any disparaging comments are made by the parents about the Han immigrants, President for Life Xi, or the campaign to eradicate the “mental illnesses of Islam, Christianity, rebelliousness against legitimate authority”. Who to report family problems to, what other kids in their classes said that should be reported if unharmonious.
And the Chinese are nasty on Tibet as well (1.2 million killed by Chinese troops or by engineered famine since 1950), and in the East, now enforcing a policy that all pictures of Jesus Christ must be removed from churches and homes and replaced with pictures of the Honorable President Xi and posters praising the Communist Party as the agency of justice and progress not the ‘affliction of religion’.

This has been going on a decade and a half in Xinjiang and leftists and radical Muslims quick to demand tennis punish Israel, Saudi Arabia with boycotts, demanding the despicable Trump best not show for the USO – are silent on China. Never heard a call for players to avoid Shanghai, Beijing, or five other tournaments, to avoid women’s exos there. It does suggest that liberals and Muslims are not fully cognisant of world affairs or if not ignorant, afflicted with cognitive dissonance.

Tennis should stay away from politics and “boycotting” this or that ‘offender’ world affairs. But of course fans should follow the politics and events and seek change if they believe in it – just don’t drag tennis into it. Common sense, not “Mansplaining”.

Margot Says:

CF!: You started this and on a tennis thread too. If you expect your extreme right wing views to go unchallenged, think again.
Right wingers and dictators always want to crush any criticism and free speech, The first thing they do is to blame, undermine and discredit the press. Oh wait…….

Humble Rafa Says:

Time to go fishing for me.

Margot Says:

Thinking about all the democrats on here and elsewhere. All my good wishes and hopes for the future are with you. Be strong, be brave. The times will change.

AndyMira Says:

Yeah M!…Blue wave!Blue wave!Blue wave!

Margot Says:

AM: In the UK blue is the colour of the Tory Party. EEEEK!
Red is our colour and here’s our anthem:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEKYQ4GOqmk
POTUS would implode if he knew….someone tell him, please.

AndyMira Says:

M!….Yeah?Hehe…Thanks for the link M!….Good to know!

But,i’m hoping the Blue Wave of Democrats will arise above the reds…It could be a beginning of something promising on many things….
