Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were in singles action Saturday at the Laver Cup and both scored wins for Team Europe.

Federer dropped the first then survived a tough test from Nick Kyrgios in a 6-7(5), 7-5, 10-7 win in from of his home Swiss fans in Geneva.

“I had goosebumps during the game. I can’t deny that,” said Federer after the win. “I’m not immune to it. I’m just very happy that I get to feel this in my home country.

Down a set and 5-4 in the second, Federer used some help from Rafa to get him through.

Nadal went to the stats: ”After five shots, you are winning more than him,” he said of the rally length. “I know it’s difficult because he reads the ball so well… Wait for the right one and then attack because he’s not missing.”

Federer enjoyed the input.

“I really enjoy his clarity in his advice. He gives you self-assurance. He’s a great problem/solution-finder, how to get through that,” Federer said.

“He’s not scared of changing a winning tactic, and he’s also a big believer in investing. You know, and I do similar things, so it’s very enjoyable to hear him speak, especially during the game.”

Nadal had an easier time in evening easing past Milos Raonic 6-3, 7-6(1).

Team World stayed in the hunt winning the other four points to draw even on the the day. John Isner beat Alexander Zverev 6-7(2), 6-4, 10-1.

And then in the final match of the day, Kyrgios teamed with Jack Sock to beat Nadal and Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 3-6, 10-6.
