The first big fall event on the WTA is already underway in Wuhan, China. Part of an 11-event stretch to end the WTA season, Wuhan boasts 15 of the Top 20 players in the world including seven of the Top 10.

Leading the way are 2019 Grand Slam champions Ashleigh Barty and Simona Halep along with 2-time champion Petra Kvitova and Aryna Sabalenka who won the title last year.

Barty will face 2017 champion Caroline Garcia in her opener. She could get Sofia Kenin in the third and then either Belinda Bencic or Madison Keys in the quarters.

Halep will meet Wimbledon semifinalist Barbora Strycova, and then is projected to collide with either Sabalenka or Kiki Bertens in the quarters.

No. 3 seed Elina Svitolina could face Caroline Wozniacki in the third, then Angelique Kerber in the quarters.

Second-seeded Karolina Pliskova will await the Anisimova-Stosur winner with Kvitova and Sloane Stephens looming in the quarters.

Former champion Venus Williams was already ousted by Danille Collins.

Also at stake is the No. 1 ranking with Pliskova having a chance to overtake Barty this week.
