For the first time in his career, Aslan Karatsev will be the top seed at an ATP Tour event. The breakout star of the first half of the year leads the Nur-Sultan ATP event in Kazakhstan in the week ahead.
The 28-year-old Karatsev stands just 12th in the ATP Race and has a shot at the year-end finals in Turin, but will have to make a strong push starting now.
Karatsev in the lone Top 30 player in the field which also includes home favorite Alexander Bublik, Winston-Salem winner Ilya Ivashka, 19-year-old Italian Lorenzo Musetti, Fernando Verdasco, Benoit Paire and Emil Ruusuvuori of Finland.
Last year, John Millman won the title beating Adrian Mannarino in the final for his first career title.
Millman is back this year to defend his title. He’ll face a qualifier in his opener.
