Ons Jabeur and Jessica Pegula will square off for their biggest career title Saturday in the final of the Madrid Masters.

The two advanced to their first WTA 1000 finals today, both in routine straight sets fashion.

Jabeur, who stunned Simona Halep yesterday, rolled past qualifier Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-2, 6-3 in just over an hour.

“I don’t have great records in front of her,” Jabeur said. “I knew I was playing such an aggressive player. She hits really flat and hits a lot of winners, so in my mind, I was accepting those kind of winners and accepting that she can do any ace any time, any winner any time.

“I know I was the favorite, I know I was playing good, I knew also she was a little bit tired from playing a lot of matches. So mentally I was really focused and I was ready for the win and not accepting to lose this time.”

In her sixth career final, she’ll seek her second title against bulldog Jessica Pegula who dusted Swiss Jil Teichmann 6-3, 6-4. She joins the Williams sisters as the only Americans to make the Madrid final.

Pegula and Jabeur have split four meetings with Jabeur winning the last two in Chicago last year and in Dubai a few months ago. This will be there first clay meeting.

“For me and Ons,” Pegula said, “it’s pretty crazy. It shows you what hard work and determination, playing week in and week out and just trying to get better, you can get to the top, as long as you believe it.

“We’re both, I think, going to be nervous,” Pegula added. “We’re both going to want to win. We’re going to go out there and compete and have a great match, I hope.”

Both players will get a day off before the Saturday final.
