With a set in hand, serving 5-4 against Andy Roddick, Ernests Gulbis finally flinched. Gulbis never saw another lead again the rest of the match.

Roddick Soars, Jankovic Dragging at US Open
“I felt good, that’s the best I’ve played in four or five months,” Roddick said. “Something about this place always gets me energized and the fans are great and I’m just happy to be healthy.”

Safin Miffed; Ivanovic, Federer Into 2nd Round at US Open
“I think it was a good match to start off with,” Federer said. “Never saw my opponent before. Never saw him play obviously because I never saw him. That was the tricky part. I thought the other guy played good for the pressure he was under.”

Elite tennis players have used a variety of stroke mechanics and tactics to succeed. Therefore, different physiques have been seen frequenting the winner’s circle in tennis. Boris Becker, Gustavo Kuerten, Jimmy Connors and Andre Agassi did not have similar body types, but each won a lot of big matches.
