Americans Trim Lawns as Vandeweghe Wins Dutch Title, Pliskova Edges Riske

Riske was up an early break in the second and had a set point serving at 5-4 after failing to capitalize on six set points in the first set. Pliskova improved to 3-1 career against Riske, with the pair contesting their first match against each other in approximately three years.

For her week’s effort the Pole will move up to No. 4 on the rankings, passing Maria Sharapova for what will be the seedings at the Australian Open. She improved to 18-7 in career finals, winning her fourth title since last year’s US Open. Riske fell to 1-1 in career WTA finals.
