American Lauren Davis Dismantles Konjuh for 1st Career WTA Title

Kerber Punches the Clock Tues., Now Serena’s Turn Wed. in Race for No. 1 at US Open

“I think the key of the match was the first set,” said Kerber, broken three times in the first set, and breaking it down for any media members that couldn’t read the scoreline. “I think in the second set, what I did good [was] that I played the first few games really tough so that I was up 3-0 very fast. Then I could continue my good play, yeah, in the next few games.”

Serena Williams Ties Federer Record with US Open Win; Sunday Woz vs. Keys

“To be up there with both men and women is something that’s super rare, and it actually feels good,” Serena said. “Something I didn’t even know about until Wimbledon. I was like, ‘Oh, I have a new goal.’ That was pretty cool for me. Obviously I want to keep that number going higher and see what can happen.”

Muguruza, 11 Seeds Upset Thursday at Wimbledon; Serena, Venus Friday

World No. 2 Garbine Mugurza’s thoughts of challenging Serena Williams for the world No. 1 spot got reset on Thursday when the Spaniard was stunned in the second round at Wimbledon by unseeded Slovak Jana Cepelova 6-3, 6-2.
