Del Potro, Streaking Errani Among ATP/WTA Winners; Weekend Wrap

Suarez Navarro led a set and 5-3, then blew two match points in the tiebreak, then in the third led 4-2 before running out of chances. “I’ve won a few matches from match points down but I’ve never won a final like this,” Kanepi said. “I’ll remember this final in a good way for a long time.”

Kvitova Too Hot at Hopman; Kanepi Titles; Tennis-X Notes

“In previous years I’ve been a surprise player — I was able to beat higher-ranked players, but then maybe lose to lower-ranked players,” Kanepi said. “Now I’m playing more stable, not making as many errors. I’m beating top players more consistently. Hopefully I can get that ranking myself one day.”

Almagro, Montanes, Kanepi, Szavay Win Titles: Weekend Wrap

“I was very tired, mainly in the second set but also in the third. I was also nervous,” Szavay said. “But I fought with myself and broke it. It’s very nice to have a second title in a row. I’ve been working very hard and this is the reward.”
