Henin Back at 2010 Australia!; Tennis-X Notes

Thus former No. 1 and seven-time Grand Slam winner Justine Henin of Belgium, following on the heels of countrywoman Kim Clijsters, has announced she will make a return to the women’s professional tour in 2010.

Juan Martin del Potro — The Future is Now

The script at this point read that Federer breaks serve early in the fourth set and wins the U.S. Open. Del Potro had other ideas and saved break points in his first two service games of the fourth set. Another tiebreak was upon both players and del Potro took advantage of a Federer double fault to win again on a single mini-break. Despite saving a break point when serving at 2-0 in the fifth set, del Potro basically dominated the final frame of play.

3rd Tourney Into Comeback, Clijsters Wins US Open

“I don’t have words for this, I’m just glad I got to come back and defend my title from 2005,” Clijsters said with a smile. “I have to thank the USTA for giving me the wildcard to come back here. Winning the first one helped me to keep my nerves at the end, even though I was very, very nervous.”

Oudin Wednesday Night at US Open; Serena Lines Up Clijsters

Looking to join the two in the semifinals in Wednesday play will be an all-unseeded meeting with Belgian Yanina Wickmayer vs. the Ukraine’s Kateryna Bondarenko, and in the much-anticipated first night match at 7 p.m. EST, new American sweetheart Melanie Oudin vs. No. 9-seeded Dane Caroline Wozniacki.
