Kei Nishikori, who has struggled with hip problems this summer, made a quick exit from the US Open on Monday. The defending runner-up and No. 4 seed fell to France’s Benoit Paire 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-4.

“He takes really big cuts on the ball and if I miss my spot he really likes pace,” Isner said of Berankis. “He did it one time in the third set as well. He just caught fire and was swinging away. I didn’t panic because it was one set to go. I could have very easily lost that [second] set in a tiebreaker so it was all good.”

Djokovic Delayed; Federer, Murray Charge Into Wimbledon Quarters

“I got off to a good start and kept rolling,” said the seven-time Wimbledon champ. “Maybe Roberto wasn’t at his very best. Midway through the second, he hurt himself. Still, he was out there and he was actually still moving okay, so I had to put him away, which I was able to do.”
