Nadal Up to Gilles in Trouble; Mattek Unfashionable Exit at Wimbledon

“It was a long time ago, but he beat me,” Nadal said. “So that’s what happened. Gilles is a very dangerous player, especially on this surface. So it will be a very tough match for me. I don’t know what is my best form, I try my best every day. I need a few adjustments.”

Venus Wears Cotton Bag, Wins; Minor Upsets Day 1 at Wimbledon

American Ryan Harrison loses in the final round of the Wimbledon qualifying as he did at the French, smashing his racquet in a fit and taking a chunk out of the grasscourt. But like at Roland Garros, he gets into the main draw as a lucky loser.
