Babos Adds Taiwan Open Singles to Aussie Open Doubles Title

“It’s been five-and-a-half weeks, amazing five-and-a-half weeks,” Babos said after the final. “Starting with a quarterfinal [at the Shenzhen Open], winning my first Slam in doubles, beating a Top 10 player in singles [CoCo Vandeweghe at the Australian Open], and here winning another title in singles, it’s been amazing.”

Begu Has Rio Olympic Mojo After WTA Florianopolis Win; Duan 1st-Time Winner at Nanchung

“I’m very happy to win my first ever WTA singles title, especially with my low back injury and the hot weather here,” said Duan who was saved mid-match by the WTA on-court coaching rule, where male coaches swoop on court to rescue women players by imparting tactical advice. “Vania played really well in the first set. My coach gave me some advice during the second set. He asked me to improve my speed a bit and I did so. It worked.”
