ATP Previews: Davydenko Opens vs. Safin in Moscow; Stockholm

Notes: Weak, weak seeded line-up; tough openers include (1) Davydenko vs. Safin, (4) Andreev vs. Ginepri, (6) Tipsarevic vs. Crazi Dani, and (5) Cuevas vs. Lu (upset alert); Russians have won 13 titles in the 19 years of the event; unseeded Igor Kunitsyn is the defending champ, and is looking at a second-round meeting with the Davydenko-Safin winner; Davydenko looking for fourth Moscow title; Yevgeny Kafelnikov won the Moscow title five years in a row from 1997-2001.

Pros, Tennis Amateurs Mix at 2nd Annual Shotgun 21 Event

This year, Alexandra Stevenson, Vince Spadea, Travis Parrott, Phillip King, Nick Monroe, Ryan Sweeting, Donald Young have indicated they would be playing. Tommy Haas, Taylor Dent, the Bryan Brothers and Marcos Baghdatis have all been invited. Last year Tommy Haas came to the event, but did not play due to issues with the ATP, issues that have supposedly been worked out.

Federer, Roddick to Contest 3rd Wimbledon Final

Roddick will face Roger Federer in their third meeting in the Wimbledon final. Federer was flawless in dismissing a determined former No. 2-ranked Tommy Haas 7-6(3), 7-5, 6-3. It was another solid performance from Haas who has shown he can play the former world No. 1 close, but perhaps doesn’t have the deep-down belief he can beat the Swiss. Last month Haas led Federer by two sets to love before losing in five at the French Open.
