Sharapova Suddenly the Wimbledon Favorite After Quarters
“I was playing someone I lost to a little over a month ago on clay in two sets, so I knew she was capable of playing some really good tennis,” Sharapova said of Cibulkova. “A few years ago I also lost to her at the French Open, at the same stage as today. I thought I played really solid and did the right things to win this time.”

Wozniacki, Azarenka Collect Claycourt Titles in Charleston, Marbella
Say what you want about the thoughtful but power-challenged game of Wozniacki, she continues to collect titles practically week-in and week-out in the absence of big hitters such as the injured Venus and Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters. Few others seemingly have the ability to consistently hit her off the court.

Maria Sharapova remained winless in three career Miami finals on Saturday after being out-hit and out-grunted by Belarus’ 21-year-old Victoria Azarenka 6-1, 6-4 in the final of the Sony Ericsson Open.
