After successful back surgery in September, Andy Murray is up and moving about, and recently the Wimbledon champion went on the Jonathan Ross show for a quick catch-up.

The big reveal was Murray talking about a sexy text he received from Rafael Nadal.

“He did prank me once in New York a couple of years ago,” Murray said. “Basically I was sitting at dinner with my girlfriend and, during the meal,” he said. “I was checking my phone and I looked at one of the messages and it was from a number I didn’t recognize and it said something like, ‘Oh my God, Andy, you look so sexy tonight. It’s a shame you’re here with your girlfriend.'”

“So I obviously I didn’t tell my girlfriend at first I didn’t want to ruin the meal so I put it back in my pocket. Then on the way back from the meal it clicked who it was. He’d obviously been the whole time watching me from a distance looking at this message and seeing my face and also not telling me.”

Murray says he hasn’t gotten Nadal back, but “it will happen”.

Murray also discussed his back surgery, his recent drug test incident, his mom and his future with longtime girlfriend Kim Sears.

Patson Says:

Haha lovely interview. Really enjoyed it.

Steve 27 Says:

fantastic, good recovery Andy!

Margot Says:

Good to see Andy showing his humorous side. Very calm and relaxed too. Is now back in Miami, away from the cold of London. So much better for his back :)
Hope the rehab goes well and he comes back better than ever.
Come on Andy!

the DA Says:

He is definitely becoming better at doing interviews. He seems so much more at ease.

Margot, have you seen the pic of him practicing with Dani in Miami today?

That’s a very encouraging sign imo.

Brando Says:

Great interview from a obviously great guy.

Folks have a short memory. They seem to forget things quickly and in a matter of a few tourny back a new horse to dominate just because…. they have won a few tournies.

Andy- once back- will be right in there with a big shout to win all the majors barring RG (I think he has talent on clay but I think Rafa, Nole, Delpo, Birdman at their best > Muzza on clay).

For me he has a good a chance as ANY in 2014 @ AO, Wimby (the fav from here forth even ahead of Fed) and USO.

He said in a BBC interview last week that he’s been talking on the phone and texting back and forth with the numero uno and more relevantly his friend, Rafael Nadal, about his comeback.

I think Muzza would be inspired by Rafa’s return and I bet here and right now he’ll return with a similar bang like his pal.

Depending on how the cookie crumbles, I would not be surprised to see Andy finish the 2014 year end number 1.

You heard it here first!

Patson Says:

@Brando

“You heard it here first”

The problem is that
a) if it doesn’t happen, nobody is going to remember who said what.
b) if it doesn’t happen, those who did say it will never come out and say ‘hey i was wrong’ because nobody would remember.

Now if it does happen, those who said it would be saying ‘I told ya , I told ya’ whilst others won’t even remember a thing what that guy said.

In light of this rant of mine, I advocate an extreme action. Yes , you guessed it right – ban it !

Patson Says:

^ ban it = ban the phrase

Brando Says:

@Patson:

Nah I don’t see any reason to ban such a phrase. Especially when you make clear that no one is going to remember one saying it.

Margot Says:

@the Da
Good to see Andy in the sunshine on the court. Yes, that’s a very cheery pic! :)

Tennis X Hippy Chic Says:

Nice interview very funny,loved the prank Rafa played on Andy ha ha,cannot wait to see Andy back on court,he matches up well with Novak on indoor HCs and has the game to trouble him,so im looking forward to seeing their rivalry(hopefully)carry on from where it left off,i only hope its not too soon and hes still that same player that won Wimbledon?
