According to Serbian reports, Novak Djokovic’s restaurant “Novak” in Belgrade was robbed of 7000 euros ($8.3K USD) earlier this week.

The theft took place in the early hour of Monday morning while the restaurant was closed. The thieves are apparently still at large!

The week didn’t go much better for Djokovic who lost twice yesterday in Doha, both in singles and doubles.

skeezer Says:

Bummer. Does any of the Nole fans know anything about this restaurant? Kind of food, what is the menu like?

Okiegal Says:

Wheaties…..the breakfast of champions, of course!!

skeezer Says:

OK,
Wheaties? Don’t you folks do Cracker Barrel for breakfast?
;)

Giles Says:

They probably didn’t like the gluten free menu which must have been over priced and decided to take strong action! Lol

RZ Says:

@Okiegal – I’m pretty sure there is gluten in Wheaties. :-)

Okiegal Says:

@Skeezer….No Cracker Barrel for hubby and I. We do The Prairie Kitchen. This chain is owned by two brothers who played football for the SOONERS. They serve breakfast around the clock along with their regular menu. Breakfast there is really good. Not sure if this chain is in any other state…..possibly Texas.

@Giles……You bring up a good point! LOL

@RZ……I will have to Google it and see what I can find out!! I’m on it, RZ. lol

Okiegal Says:

When I brought up Wheaties, I totally forgot about Novak’s allergy to gluten…..I’m gonna have to get with the program, no?? Lol

courbon Says:

@ skeezer: Food is OK ( not amazing but decent ); Mix of traditional Serbian food ( so lots of grills ) and then some world classics-buritros, chicken curry and similar…It is not gluten free-almost opposite!

Okiegal Says:

@Courbon……I’m not Skeezer but thanks for the input about the food. I can’t believe you’ve actually eaten there……COOL!! That would be akin to drinking a glass of milk from Roger’s cow!

courbon Says:

Okiegal: Or having a chorizo with Nadal???

skeezer Says:

Courban,
Thanks love all those flavors…have you eaten there?

Okiegal Says:

@Courbon……tried to come up with something clever to include Rafa and those prawns he loves…..but was stymied……yeah, the chorizo with Rafa will work too!! Lol

Okiegal Says:

@Courbon……speaking of Rafa, I’ve found a stream for the dubs……gotta go……lol

courbon Says:

@ skeezer: Yeah, somebody took me there. It is not my kind of place ( because the crowd that goes there …) but I did enjoy food, wine and ambience. It is modern, little bit of tennis twist to design but not a hard rock cafe style memorabilia place….here is a link of photos

@ Okiegal/ Speak later

Okiegal Says:

@Courbon……I can do two things at once….Thanks for the link……his restaurant is pretty swanky in my books…..and thanks for being such a nice accommodating poster!!

jane Says:

thanks for the link courbon; i like that they’re all sort of styled differently. the ski hill one looks neat, and the patio views of another – i think in new belgrade – are lovely.

skeezer Says:

Courban,
Thanks for the link. That was a fun look. Lets see, there is a statue of himself(lol), a gluten free menu and the wine selection is not bad. There was even Tawny Port! Didn’t know he had series of restaurants, good for him!

Wog Boy Says:

It wasn’t really robbery, rather break and enter inside job. The dude broke in through ventilation system when nobody was inside, went stright for the money and on the way our took CCTV, just in the case:)

As I inderstand, it is a very good restaurant which serves meat Argentinian style. Upmarket.

Maybe they have added gluten-free items, I don’t know.
